Living The Parisian Life in Faubourg Saint-Antoine

Paris is, among a lot of things, forever an evolving city. Though the preservation of its culture and heritage are what continue to fascinate people to going here, at the very core of it, it's a very modern metropolis. The spirit of the youth is alive and well in the French capital, from the various startup companies popping up to the quirky cafés and concept stores that are, as the young would say, 'out of this world!' However, there are some parts of Paris that remain untouched. Places that seem as if they never caught up to the 21st-century. One, in particular, is Faubourg Saint-Antoine.

An Untouched Part of Paris

Once you go to Faubourg Saint-Antoine, you'll realize one thing instantly—it almost looks completely untouched. While new buildings are popping up in all the other neighborhoods in Paris, the suburban area that is Faubourg Saint-Antoine has stayed pretty much the same for decades, possibly even centuries. Sure, the area has electricity and other types of modern technology now, but the exterior—as well as the spirit—of the place largely looks and feels the same. There's a nostalgic novelty to it that's very Parisian in essence but the character of the place is undoubtedly unique. And you can't say that about any other part of the city!

So Many Peaceful Corners

Because it seems 'untouched,' Faubourg Saint-Antoine also feels like it has countless peaceful corners. Place in which you rest and not be in anyone's way. In a city like Paris, such corners are pretty rare, so if you do happen to move here, you'll gladly appreciate the countless corners in which you can take a step back, take a breather, and just have some alone time. You might even want to go on dates in these corners, sitting around and chatting with your partner, not having to raise your dining costs for the month. That's a win in itself, right?

Fascinating Roads and Alleyways

Speaking of peaceful corners, a good number of them are probably fascinating roads and alleyways that make up most of the district. Sure, Faubourg Saint-Antoine may not have iconic monuments and must-visit museums, but the secret passageways and quiet streets are just as exciting, some may argue even more so! The ones here look pretty much like the background for the 2004 film, 'Before Sunset,' one of the finer Paris-set movies from Hollywood. And yes, while the alleyways may seem sketchy at first—to the point that it looks like a crime-infested part of Paris—they're more serene than seedy here!

Where To Get Classic Furniture

Along the said alleyways are all sorts of shops. From vintage clothing stores to small family-owned bakeries, these are what sustain the lifestyle in this extremely quiet, almost dispatched area in the French capital. However, the main draw here are the handicraft stores, often the best places to shop for classic furniture. It's no secret that many Paris living rooms contain wooden furniture, the more classic and nostalgia-inducing, the better. Well, this place is practically the best market for it. Quality-made furniture that will look as if they're antiques, decorating your home here would be as easy as pie!

A Traditional Suburban Area

Traditional suburban areas in Paris are common, but because the city, as a whole, is so busy all the time, you never would have known it! Not unless you're staying here in Faubourg Saint-Antoine. This entire neighborhood is largely suburban, made up of residential homes and family-owned businesses as far as the eye can see. And since it's one of the quieter parts of the city, its suburban vibe increases tenfold! You won't find a home more suitable for families than the ones here! At least, not ones where you can keep up a traditionally quiet lifestyle in one of the most crowded cities in the world.
