There's no denying that Prague, no matter what time of the year it is, is a lovely city. It's rich with history and heritage as castles stand tall and culture reeks at every corner. Photographs often have a field day capturing the beauty of the city, they wouldn't know where to start! With that said, there's something even lovelier about Prague during springtime. Perhaps it's because the sun is shining brightly again after the cold spells of winter? Or that the blossoming flowers fill the air with such a sweet scent? Whichever it is, springtime in Prague is definitely worth seeing and experiencing yourself.
Look For Witches
Here in Prague, you know it's already springtime when you see a witch burning in a bonfire! And no, she's not at the stake nor is she an actual person with powers. This slightly eerie but definitely fascinating tradition is called 'the Night of The Witch.' Held every April 30th, people in Prague gather around and watch as an effigy of a 'witch' (which does not pertain to any specific person but rather, just that of the mythical figure) as a sign that
winter here has passed. It can get scary for kids to see so you might not want to let your kids join the tradition.

See Prague In Full Bloom
Of course, the blossoming of flowers is always a great reason to experience springtime in Prague. In the winter, when the city was covered in snow, the Czech capital looked like a winter wonderland. The type you'd see ina. snowglobe. But during spring? When the flowers have all bloomed? It looks like a painting by Claude Monet! Just seeing all the floral bursts of color against the palaces and castles in the city will be quite the sight to behold. Not to mention the sweet scents wafting along the spring breezes! Such pleasantness is surely worth the effort to go here during spring!

Celebrate Easter in Prague
Since the Czech Republic is a largely Roman Catholic country, Easter Sunday is one of
its most important holidays. And you'll see it in Prague more than anywhere else. During this special Sunday, the city is a lot livelier than normal, decorating each and every corner spring flowers, attending mass, singing songs, doing traditional dances, and more. Even the open street markets are filled with the Easter spirit! Among their usual trinkets and knick-knacks are Easter eggs, chocolates, candies, and other treats that are all about Easter. You would find them this colorful and charming at any other time of the year!

All Kinds of Spring Festivals
Make no mistake, Easter Sunday isn't the only reason Prague is more festive during spring! There are countless other festivals during the spring months that Prague hosts. Firstly, there's Prague's Festival of Czech Beer, held for 17 days in May every year. By its name alone, you can probably already tell what this festival entails: locally-brewed beer. You'll find that all the pubs and bars that serve beer are all filled with people who love the stuff. Furthermore, there's also Prague’s Night of Churches where one night in June, all churches throughout the city remain open for tours, concerts, and the like.

Go To Masopust
Also known as 'Bohemian Carnevale', Masopust is a spring celebration that's similar to Venice's own 'Carnevale' and Brazil's famous 'Mardis Gras.' A customary that has been passed down since the 13th-century, Prague becomes a huge masquerade ball, with people wearing all sorts of costumes, creating all sort of mischief, and just having a. gay old time. Oftentimes, it's held before Lenten Season, either February or March, meaning it takes place during winter. But in recent years, Masopust has become the festival to usher in the spring season. And, of course, you wouldn't want to miss this colorful extravaganza yourself!

do for the day, you can just immerse yourself with the beauty of the city and the charm of local life here. After all, Prague itself is such a majestic place, just seeing all the classical structures and opulent palaces is enough to get you excited.
