At this point in time, more and more places around the world are starting to reopen. Although the Covid-19 still looms large, the vaccines have made it possible for many to travel, hold events, and see each other again. Here in Paris, where most of the city has reopened, the summer season is in full swing. More and more people are going out, meeting up, and enjoying life together again. And many of them are going to events in the city too. This August 2021, here’s what to look forward to in the French capital.
Paris Plages (All of August 2021)
Literally translated as 'Paris Beaches,'
Paris Plages sees most of the area around the Seine River turn into beaches. Yep, instead of going out of town for some seaside fine, a whole bunch of riverside excitement awaits you in the French capital. All throughout the
arrondissements in Paris, be it in
Rive Droite (Right Bank) or
Rive Gauche (Left Bank), little sandy shorelines appear where you can relax, play games, and splash around the Seine River. With the sun singing down on you, it will really feel like you're on a beach in the middle of Paris!

Although it already started this
July 2021, the Paris Jazz Festival will still be in full swing in early August. All over the French capital, jazz musicians put on concerts, performances, and gigs, all to remind everyone that jazz is still the
bee's knees! You can even head on over to record stores to hear jazz and buy a few records yourself. But if you really want to be at the center of all the action, head on over to the Jardin Botanique de la Ville de Paris, one of the
beautiful parks in Paris, where most of the musicians in the city will perform.

End of Summer Sales (August 11)
Another event that's ending in August is the summer sale. Back in June 2021, many of the department stores, boutiques, and
designer outlet stores in Paris started the seasonal sales, offering a myriad of discounts and promos for all their remaining goodies. It was a shopaholic's chance to get their hands on some of the best that Paris can offer at marked-down prices and amazing deals. But by August 11, 2021, however, many of these sales will finish. This is your last chance to shop till you drop in the 'fashion capital of the world.' What are you waiting for?

77th Anniversary of Liberation of Paris (August 25)
The Liberation of Paris is one of
France's most special national holidays. It commemorates the time that the Free French forces fought their way back into the capital city and eventually made the Nazis surrender. It was the definitive start to the end of the German Occupation of France during World War II. As well as a historic milestone in ending one of the most violent wars in human history. Held every August 25, next month marks the 77th anniversary of the historic day. And since most of Paris has reopened, expect a ton of parades, parties, and more on this day!

They don't call Paris the 'City of Lights' for nothing! Every summer, particularly from July to August, the famous Les Invalides landmark, famously the final resting place of Napoleon Bonaparte, hosts a fantastic light show. And after skipping a year because of the Covid-19 global pandemic, the 'Night at Les Invalides' is back this summer! Watch in awe as the famous facade and fountain light up, with sounds and sparks that'll make you feel like it's New Year's Day or Bastille Day all over again. You won't want to miss seeing these shows every Saturday night all-month-long this August!
