With destinations in some of the most exclusive resorts in the world including Monte Carlo, Dubai and Ibiza, Nikki Beach has a global reputation as the THE beach bar to be seen in. The definition of barefoot chic, this bar oozes Caribbean charm while still being chic, stylish and most of all, glamorous. Right on the beach in St Jean, you can enjoy a cocktail or glass of champagne with your toes in the sand. You can book a sun bed for the day if you're more of a daylight raver or opt to head there after dark when the place comes alive and plays host to world-class DJs. Nikki Beach is an essential Saint Barthelemy experience that shouldn’t be missed.

Also on St Jean Beach you’ll find celebrity favourite Eden Rocks. This exclusive resort hotel is home to one of the island’s best and most popular beach bars. From delicious cocktails to light lunches, you can get it all at the Eden Rocks beach bar. Relax on a sun lounger and be waited on hand and foot, before cooling off in the pool or the crystal clear sea. The tiered beach bar offers fantastic views from every angle and the newly-designed bar area is the perfect place to kick back. After your drinks head back to one of these oceanfront villas to rent in St Bart’s and enjoy a few more cocktails in the comfort of your own home.

Ok, so it’s not strictly speaking on the beach, but it’s right on the port in Gustavia with stunning views across the bay. And you’re only three minutes from the beach. So it counts. This family friendly bar is one of the most laidback on the island, and far less glitzy than other places on this list. And that’s what we love about it. Rock up here with no reservation, grab an ice cold beer and put your feet up. All that beer making you hungry? No problem. There’s a food menu that includes some very reasonably priced (for St Bart’s anyway) burgers. If you want to stay in the centre of the action and be close to this lively bar, find a Saint Barthelemy holiday rental in Gustavia to call your own during your vacation.

Overlooking the gorgeous shores of Shell Beach in Gustavia, Shellona is one of the best restaurants in St Bart’s and serves food all day in a laidback, relaxing atmosphere. It’s also one of our favourite places for a beachside cocktail. The Ibiza-inspired bar is the perfect place to grab a drink and relax after a long day sunbathing. Or perhaps you’ve been working up an appetite doing some water sports in Saint Barthelemy. Either way, you’ll love the inventive cocktail list and selection of top tier French wines.

This restaurant, which has been a favourite among A-listers in Cannes since 1935, recently opened in Saint Barthelemy and has seen similar success the other side of the Atlantic. Nestled between the boats and yachts in the port of Gustavia, it’s slightly more formal than the other beach bars and the perfect place to go for a special treat. Perhaps you’re a couple on holiday, visiting Saint Barthelemy for a romantic break, then this is a stunning choice. The lounge bar is home to one of the island’s best mixologists so you can be sure your cocktail will be perfectly shaken.

Laze on a sun bed here before heading back up the hill to your Saint Bart’s villa with an infinity pool and carrying on the party there.

This famous bar in St Bart’s is another one that’s not strictly on the beach, but when it’s this close, who’s counting. Serving Caribbean punch by the bucket load and ice cold beers, this is one laidback joint. No dress codes here. Just turn up and relax. Founded over 60 years ago, Le Select is now one of the most iconic venues in Saint Barthelemy which even the poshest visitors can’t seem to resist. Order the world-famous cheeseburger and have a day off from the glitz and glamour of the island.
