As one of the most popular cities in Germany, Frankfurt has proven itself to be quite a top-notch destination. While its classical beauty established its centuries-old European heritage, the metropolis never fails to look forward to the future neither. You won't find many cities quite like Frankfurt. And even if you only have one day to spend here, you'll find that there are lots to do to keep you busy. From exploring different districts to taking in all the local flavors of the city, here are some of what you can do in Frankfurt for a day.
Explore Altstadt
Among the central and popular
districts in Frankfurt, Altstadt is definitely the one worth exploring. You can spend an entire day strolling through the streets of this 'Old Town' and you won't be bored at all. As the main tourist hub in the city, this place is a feast for the eyes, what with the timbered houses, cobblestone streets, beautiful sculptures, and more. Its fairytale-like atmosphere can almost make you forget that you're in the 21st-century, allowing you to see the city in a totally new way. But remember: make sure your phone is fully charged so you can snap away to your heart's content.

Spend Time in Romerberg
As with any other European city, Frankfurt has its own main square that you shouldn't miss while you're here. It's called Romerberg, which means 'Roman Mountain' in German. Timbered houses line up the massive space, all centering the beautiful Justitia statue that proudly stands atop a water fountain surrounded by freshly bloomed flowers. Among the symmetric structures that line the public square are the city's Town Hall, a 15th-century structure that has retained its soft pastel pink glow. On the opposite side, the iconic St Nicholas Church, with its pointed mint-green roofed tower, serves as an important landmark within the square.

Marvel at The Museums in Museumsufer
Of course, you can't go to Frankfurt, or any other European city for that matter, without visiting its many museums. Since most cities from the 'Old Continent' have stood the test of time, their museums are often some of the best in the world. In Frankfurt, there's an entire semi-district that's made up of various museums: Museumsufer. Situated along the Main River, they're some of the most fascinating cultural attractions in Frankfurt. There's the Museum of Ancient Sculpture, or ‘
Liebieghaus,’ for instance, which houses artworks from around the world, spanning the Mediterranean to East Asia and beyond. The
German Architectural Museum, on the other hand, chronicles the country's history with architecture throughout the years.

Indulge in The Local Flavors in Kleinmarkthalle
Hungry? Although Frankfurt is far from what many would consider as a 'food capital,' it does offer a ton of great places to eat. But a good many of them, however, tend to be on the pricier side. So what then? Well, you can always head on over to Kleinmarkthalle. As the premier food market in the city, you can indulge in the local and traditional flavors here while staying within a strict budget. Think juicy frankfurters prepared with all sorts of condiments. Or cheese platters made up of dairy products from all over Europe. As far as your
costs in the city are concerned, the food here won't have you spending more than you can afford.

After quite the foodie trip, you'll want to relax and rest for a bit, wouldn't you? That's alright, it's only natural! But where in this bustling city—apart from your home/accommodations here, of course—can you truly relax? In the beautiful botanical garden, Palmengarten. Offering a nature-filled retreat away from the hustles and bustles of Germany's financial hub, this place is one of the most beautiful in the city. Instead of skyscrapers and zooming pedestrians, you can surround yourself with fanciful flora, many of which tend to be on the more exotic side. The stunning greenhouse is an especially serene spot to hide in!

See The City from The Main Tower
Now, what if you want to see Frankfurt from a totally different vantage point? Exploring its many beautiful districts is fun and all, but sometimes, having a bird’s eye view of the metropolis wouldn't be half bad. And there's only one place in the city where you can get it: the Main Tower. It's Frankfurt's version of the Empire State Building in New York, in it that it offers a viewing deck on the 53rd floor where you can bask in the glory of one of the major cities. Since the entire skyscraper itself stands a glorious 200 meters tall, it's safe to say that your view from up here will be second to none!

Attend A Frankfurt Festival
Don't think that just because Frankfurt serves as the financial hub of Germany that people here don't know how to have fun. On the contrary, isn't it the more serious business-minded people often the wildest of the bunch when there's a party going on? If you're lucky and your trip to Frankfurt falls on a
national holiday, you might experience a true-blue German festival. The city itself has its own collection of cultural fairs and the like, ranging from the Frankfurt Apple Wine Festival, where you can drink your fill and then some, and Dippemess, the carnival-like fair during autumn.
