While there's no denying that Copenhagen isn't as popular a city as many European capitals, to say that it's 'boring' here is definitely not correct. You won't know how fascinating of a city Copenhagen really is if you don't go here. In fact, even for just a day, you'd be surprised at how much you can and will want to do. Beyond its role as the capital city of Denmark, Copenhagen is also a treasure trove of beautiful sights, exciting sounds, and new experiences you won't soon forget. Whether you're a tourist or a newly-relocated local, rest assured there's a lot to look forward to in this city!
Spend Time in Nyhavn
If there's one
district in Copenhagen that's worth exploring for an entire day, it's Nyhavn! Arguably the most beautiful area in the city, it's the string of colorful houses by the waterfront. Perched along the coasts of its eponymous canal, this is the scenic neighborhood of the Danish capital that you've probably seen many times, be it in magazines, picture books, or even online on social media. Although the area looks serene, it's anything but! The coastline is actually quite busy, with shops, cafes, and more offering up one pleasant experience after another. You won't want to miss seeing them when you're there!

Go on A Canal Cruise
While you're at it, why not go on a canal cruise in Copenhagen? The city is one of the very few capital cities in the world where you can go cruising along the river and canals. It's a great way to see the city from a different viewpoint, one that lets you bask in its picturesque glory and nostalgic old-world appeal. Moreover, although many people ride ferries as a form of
public transport, going on a canal cruise has become more of a tourist attraction than anything else. And ultimately, it's a relaxing way to spend your day in the bustling Danish capital.

Marvel at The City's Palaces
As with any other European capital, Copenhagen has its fair share of castles and palaces. You have to remember that Denmark is one of the few European countries that still have a royal family. The regality of the country's heritage is most reflected in these stunning structures. Take Christiansborg Palace, for instance, the most important government building in all of Copenhagen. As well as housing both the Danish Supreme Court and Parliament, you can feel how important it is amidst its magisterial splendor. Meanwhile, Amalienborg Palace serves as the stately home of the aforementioned Danish Royal Family.

See The 'Little Mermaid'
Before she became one of
Disney's most famous princesses, the Little Mermaid was the titular character of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved fairytale. The story of a mermaid princess who falls in love with a human prince tugged at everyone's heartstrings, both for her beautiful romance and her tragic sacrifice. So when you're in Copenhagen, why not visit the 'Little Mermaid' herself? Or rather, her statue! Located at the Langelinie Pier, the centuries-old Little Mermaid statue by Edvard Eriksen is the city's most famous attraction. People from all around the world go here just to see her in person.

Spanish high-street stores, French luxury labels, and even a few toy brands for the little ones. If you're one to go on massive shopping sprees, Strøget street is definitely your kind of place. Just make sure that you leave enough money in your

Hang Out in Freetown Christiania
If the Tivoli Gardens are the kids' playground, Freetown Christiania is more for the adults! Known as the 'green light district,' this area in Copenhagen is known for its cannabis-ladened establishments. Although drugs remain a huge problem in the city according to the
crime rates, Freetown Christiania is the only place where cannabis is more or less legal. But even with that, ther are still certain conditions to be met. Nevertheless, if you're up for some bohemian fun in this hipster haven, you'll get to see a different side of the Danish capital you probably never knew existed!
