To say that the past two years were a whirlwind is a complete understatement. Thanks to the Covid-19 global pandemic, life in Paris, as well as the rest of the world, changed forever. Nowadays, despite the new variants coming in, new vaccines and booster shots are making way for a new normal. Little by little, Paris is going back to normal, hosting new events, continuing old traditions, and the like. This 2022, things are looking up as the city's calendar is filled with all sorts of fun and exciting activities left and right. And they're just in January alone!

Paris Winter Sales (Starts on January 2)
If you thought the holidays had you shopping like crazy in Paris, wait until January 2 comes! The second day of the new year marks the start of the city's winter sales. Department stores, designer outlets, famous shopping districts, and more are offering all sorts of promos, discounts, and more. In many ways, the winter sales are a continuation of the holiday sales that happened this past December. Are you ready to get your hands on the finest designer brands and luxury goodies at lesser prices? Make sure to shopping then because the winter sales are only up until February 2, 2022!
La Fête des Rois (January 6)
While in other countries, the holidays end on January 1, the French holidays are actually up to January 6. On this special day, Paris, as well as the rest of France, celebrate 'La Fête des Rois' or more commonly known as the 'Epiphany Day.' This marks the moment the three wise men, commonly regarded as the 'three kings,' reached Bethlehem and saw the newborn Jesus Christ and gave him presents. Just like Christmas Day, kids also get gifts and sweets from their elders and everyone takes part in a fascinatingly sweet tradition called 'Galette des Rois.' The name refers to both the tradition and the cake.
Harry Potter et L'Orde du Phènix (January 8 to 9)
If you fancy yourself as a 'Potterhead,' you'll need to make plans to go to Palais des Congrès in the 17th arrondissement of Paris on January 8, 2022. On this day, Harry Potter et L'Orde du Phènix concert is set to take place! Named after the famous Harry Potter installment, the even is a must for any bonafide Harry Potter fans in the city. As the movie is shown on-screen, a full-blown orchestra plays the movie's soundtrack live, making for a more immersive way of enjoying the hit 2007 fantasy film. It's definitely an event you won't soon forget!

Paris Men's Fashion Week (January 19 to 24)
January is among the most fashionable months in Paris since this is when two major events in the industry take place. The first one is the autumn-winter Men's Fashion Week, set to take place from January 19 to 24, 2022. For this whole week, the finest French menswear designers show off their latest collections, with some even interspersed with a few womenswear looks as well. More often than not, it's this week that sets the trends for menswear for the year. This upcoming edition, however, is a little bittersweet as it's the first after the trailblazing American-born, Paris-based designer, Virgil Abloh, passed away back in November 2021.
Paris Haute Couture Week (January 25 to 28)
The second major fashion event held every January in Paris is the city's famous haute couture week. Practically the most exclusive event of its kind, this is the one week where Paris Haute Couture houses present their latest spring/summer lines. Not to be confused with the ready-to-wear week, which happens in February, only a handful of French luxury labels take part in this event. The term 'haute couture' refers to the craft of handmade clothes made by a group of elite designer brands that the French government has deemed worthy to carry the title. Their pieces often end up worn on the red carpet come awards season.
If you still want to catch the Botticelli exhibition at Musée Jacquemart-André, this month's your last chance. The limited-time display, which started last September 10, 2021, is set to end on January 24, 2022. Marvel at 40 amazing works of the iconic Italian Renaissance maestro, as well as other pieces made by his contemporaries. Sandro Botticelli, one of Italy's most historic artists, was the one who painted the iconic 'Birth of Venus,' 'Mars and Venus,' 'Primavera,' and the 'Portrait of a Young Woman,' among many others.
