Admit it: you went to Koh Samui for the beaches! Cliché? Sure! But can you help it? The shorelines on this island are practically second to none! Though Thailand boasts a ton of amazing destinations, each with their own heavenly beaches, those in Koh Samui are truly worth noting. Some are bright and vibrant, unsurprisingly suitable for the crowds and parties that invade such coasts. Others are more remote, secret paradises that only a lucky few can easily get to if they work hard enough. But among Koh Samui's many fine beaches, here are some of the most beautiful!
Bophut Beach
Bophut Beach is among the most crowded shorelines in all of Koh Samui. When you get here, you almost couldn't believe that you're on the same relatively unpopular resort. You'd sooner think you were in Phuket or Pattaya or something. That's how crowded it can get on this beach. It helps that Bophut Beach is located at the end of the area's famous Fishing Village, a top tourist attraction in Koh Samui. Those who
spent a day shopping and eating here can go straight to the crystal blue waters for a dip, some seaside fun, and more!

Bang Po Beach
A four-kilometer stretch of soft sands and orange sunsets await those who visit Bang Po Beach on the northwest coast of Koh Samui. Undeniably one of the largest shorelines on the island, you'd assume this place would be packed with tourists and commercial areas, right? Well, it's not and that's the best part of it! If you're lucky, you can get these vast sands and seas all to yourself. The only people you'll probably see here are the local fishermen going about their daily business. But overall, this paradise is actually among the more peaceful on this list!

Chaweng Beach
On the opposite side of the island (as well as the spectrum), Chaweng Beach is the most popular coast in all of Koh Samui. Since it's right smack in the most tourist-friendly part of the island, you won't find it difficult to get here even via
public transport! And at peak season, you might not even be able to see the actual sands on the shoreline anymore. But don't let this hullabaloo turn you off! It's the liveliness of Chaweng Beach that makes it such a tourist hotspot. Here is where all the tropical fun happens, the kind that has made Koh Samui a well-visited destination in Thailand.

Coral Cove
As one of the most remote beaches in Koh Samui, Coral Cove is a tiny little escape worth all the trouble in getting here. Yes, it's among the smallest coasts on the island, but that's what makes it such a paradise. You can say that Coral Cove is one of Koh Samui's best-kept secrets, one that only a lucky few know about. And though it is a smaller beach compared to the others, there is still a lot you can do here. From snorkeling to scuba diving, you can get as much vitamin sea as you want here in Coral Cove!

Lamai Beach
Lamai Beach isn't just famous, it's infamous! It's all thanks to the notorious Hin Ta and Hin Yai rock formations that, in many angles, seem to depict parts of the male and female anatomy. But don't let this funny attraction turn you off from the actual paradise that's right before you. With its white sandy shoreline and jewel-tone turquoise waters, there's more to this southeastern coast than just its rocks. Its powdery sands are actually some of the softest on the island, making it the perfect place for lying under the sun while you get a good tan!

Lipa Noi Beach
You can say that you can practically see the entire rainbow here in Lipa Noi Beach. During the day, the shades of blue of the sea, the fluffy whiteness of the sands, and the luscious greens of the natural wonders around you paint the perfect paradisical picture. And come sunset, the twilight renders the shoreline with an orange glow, a darker yellow shade, a tiny tinge of purple, and the sands themselves turn from off-white to pink. This is the sort of scenic magic you can expect in Lipa Noi Beach, making it the perfect coast for when you want to watch the sunset!

Maenam Beach
It's no surprise that there are tons of resorts that keep popping up around Maenam Beach. With its serene waters and powdery shore, it's the archetypal coast that you'd expect in Koh Samui. Bungalows and sunbeds are all on offer, most of them courtesy of the five-star establishments nearby, to help you get as much sun and relaxation as possible. And though Maenam Beach is far from what you'd call remote, it's still one of the more peaceful ones out there. There are a lot of things going on here, sure, but you can easily escape them if you go further into this seven-kilometer stretch of sand and sea.

Silver Beach
Ask any seasoned traveler who's been to Koh Samui and many of them will tell you that Silver Beach is undisputedly the best here. The shore is so white, it's almost as blinding as the sun. The waters are so clear, you can practically see the little fishes swimming about. And the area can be so peaceful, you'll feel as if you're the only people in the world. That's the type of paradise Silver Beach is. Even when it's at its busiest, the vibe remains chill and relaxed. What more could you ask for in a Koh Samui beach?

Thong Ta Kian
Finally, there's Thong Ta Kian, also known as 'Thongson Bay.' Not only is the entire beach only half a kilometer long, but the entire area itself is also largely underdeveloped. And you know what that means! Peace in paradise! 'Serene' doesn't even begin to describe this well-kept secret of the island. If you're lucky enough to spend a day here, especially
during summer, with little to no other people around, you'll feel as if you own the entire beach. This picture-perfect shoreline, untouched and
au naturel, is a hidden gem worth discovering again and again!
