In many ways, April is when Paris is really in full bloom. Not only is it the peak of the spring season, but the sun is shining a lot brighter than most of the other months of the year. Of course, this also means that the city is busier and April 2022 is no different. All the other first months of the year were already eventful, but this upcoming month is expected to be just as exciting. From concerts to a famous marathon, here's what to expect in Paris this April 2022.
Foire du Trone (Begins on April 1)
Come April 1st, many
areas in Paris will burst in fun and excitement every weekend for Foire du Trone, or the 'Throne Festival,' one of the city's oldest traditions. This funfair dates back all the way to the year 857 when a young King Lothair hosted town festivals featuring street performers, food stalls, and even a bit of gambling. Today, this fair has grown to include carnival rides, fun games, and even mini-concerts too. They go on every Saturday and Sunday as well as every eve of a holiday up until May 29, 2022. You won't want to miss this!

Another fair that will start on April 1, 2022, is the Art Paris Art Fair, an entire week devoted to modern and contemporary art. Held at the famous Grand Palais in the
8th arrondissement of Paris, this particular fair will highlight the works of over a thousand artists, many of which are already displayed in various art galleries around the world. The city's famous exhibition space will transform into its own massive gallery, one that can almost rival the
Louvre in terms of the number of noteworthy pieces it will display for all the world to see.

While the city's half-marathon, which serves as a preparation for the actual race, was back in early
March, the real Paris Marathon will take place on April 3, 2022. It's set to be just as grand of an event as ever, with 65,000 runners expected to participate this year. They're expected to race a whopping 26.2-mile route that begins in the
Champs-Élysées and will go through various parts of the French capital. This upcoming 2022 edition is also noteworthy as it's the second Paris Marathon to take place after the Covid-19 pandemic. The first one was back on October 17, 2021.

Gaudí Exhibit at Musée d'Orsay (Begins at April 12)
Although the legendary Catalan architect, Antonio Gaudí, is more associated with Barcelona, he'll take center stage in Paris this April 2022. The city's famous Musée d'Orsay, located on the Left Bank of the Seine River, is set to host a Gaudí exhibit beginning on April 12, 2022. It will chronicle the works and legacy of the famous architect, dissecting many of his most iconic structures and how his style differed from the rest of the world. It's going to be a fascinating look into the mind of one of architecture's most famous pioneers, as well as the pride of Catalonia himself!

Easter Sunday & Monday (April 17 - 18)
Easter Sunday, which is on April 17, 2022, will likely be a busy day in Paris. Churches will be filled with Mass-goers, kids are going on Easter Egg hunts, and families are bound to go out to parks and other recreational areas. Since Paris, the capital of France, is heavily Roman Catholic, expect Easter Sunday to be a big holiday in the city. And even after that, on April 18, 2022, there's also Easter Monday, another
important holiday in France. This day will likely be as busy and bustling as the former, especially since work and school will be closed that day too.
