'
La Toussaint' or All Saints' Day as it's known to the rest of the world, is a pretty important holiday here in France. Since it's a largely Roman Catholic country, it's no surprise that the French take it very seriously. They uphold their many traditions during the first two days of November. They visit the graves of their deceased loved ones, reunite with family, hold big feasts, and more. During this time, the cemeteries are a lot livelier compared to the many
neighborhoods in Paris. Some would even stay in their loved ones' graves all day long!

Armistice Day (November 11)
But before the Christmas season, there's another
holiday in France that people ought to look forward to: Armistice Day! Held every November 11, it commemorates the day when the armistice was signed, eventually leading to the end of World War I. But here in France, it's mostly celebrated in memory of the fallen soldiers that died in the war (as well as the other wars that France fought in). On this day, the French president holds a military ceremony where he lays down a tri-colored wreath by the eternal flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Arc de Triomphe. It's one of the most solemn events in the city.
