New Year's Day (January 1)

Although New Year's Eve in Paris is a lot more exciting, New Year's Day, January 1st, is worth noting too. Do note that since it's a holiday, many establishments will be closed on this day. This includes various museums, restaurants, and even cafes in Paris. With that said, there are few attractions that remain open. Not the least of which is the iconic Moulin Rouge cabaret, Disneyland Paris, and of course, the Eiffel Tower too. Whether you choose to spend time indoors or go out on the town, there are still many things you can do on New Year's Day in Paris.

L'Épiphanie (January 6)

Five days later, there's another important holiday in France to celebrate: L'Épiphanie! Known to the rest of the world as “Epiphany Day,” this commemorates the moment the Three Wise Men met the newborn Baby Jesus in Bethlehem and gave him their gifts. As a result, it's become a tradition for adults to give little ones all sorts of gifts, sweets, and more during this holiday. And in France, in particular, they have the pretty unique Galette des Rios tradition. This refers to the flaky holiday cake that most French families serve on L'Épiphanie. It's accompanied by a fun game wherein you have to find which slice has the feve.
