But in all seriousness, with so much to do and see in Sicily, you'd do well to plan out your itinerary carefully. There's a lot you shouldn't miss, especially if you're just a tourist visiting the island. And if you're relocating here, you can include all of these on a bucket list instead!

Visit Ancient Ruins
Speaking of the Greek ruins, no trip to Sicily in Italy is complete without seeing them at least once. Part of what's so fascinating about Sicily is that its culture and history aren't 100% Italian. It's perhaps most evident in Agrigento, a town known for its 'Valley of The Temples.' As its name says, this place is made up of ruins and relics from centuries ago. Some are actually so well-preserved, they can almost rival the historic sites in Greece themselves. And whether you're a history buff or not, you'll no doubt get enamored by it all!

Indulge in Sicilian Streetfood
The best part about traveling, especially in a country like Italy, is indulging in its delicious cuisine. You've probably had your fair share of Italian food before getting here, but Sicily's traditional dishes and desserts are unlike any other! You'll only get to taste the most authentic if you go to the streets. From small stalls to loud vendors, they sell all kinds of Sicilian food. Here, you can enjoy as many canzoles and cannolis as you want! And before you think you've had enough of them, you'll be craving some more in no time!

Hike Up Mount Etna
Are you more of an outdoorsy traveler? If you are, then Sicily is the island for you. Beyond its lively towns is a treasure trove of natural wonders worth exploring. The most famous of which is Mount Etna, one of the world's most active volcanoes. Its almost constant state of activity makes it volatile, and yet people still go hiking here. It just goes to show that an adventurer's spirit knows no fear. If you have that in you, then hiking up Mount Etna ought to be on your itinerary for Sicily.

See Scala dei Turchi
Another of Sicily's natural wonders is Scala dei Turchi, the cliff-covered coast near Porto Empedocle on the southern edge of the island. Translated to English as the “Stair of the Turks,” it perfectly describes the awe-inspiring formations that make up the shoreline. And yes, each and every 'stair' here is covered in white sand, making it one of the best beaches in Sicily. Just seeing it in person will give you goosebumps, even when you're still a mile away. What more when you actually get to enjoy a fun day at the beach here? That'll be a memorable day in Sicily indeed!

Go Island-Hopping
Since you're already enjoying the sunny coasts of Sicily, why not go island-hopping too? Even though it's the biggest island in Italy, there are actually many islets and archipelagos that surround Sicily. And they're all absolutely beautiful and worth checking out. From the popular ones like Salina and Stromboli to the lesser-known Panarea and Vulcano, each island offers an exciting adventure. Not to mention the perfect fodder for a travel inspo Instagram account! As fascinating as the many towns in Sicily are, sometimes you just want to escape it all and be one with the sun, sand, and sea.

Check Out Where “The Godfather” was Filmed
Sicily has starred in many memorable movies over the years. The island may not have won as many accolades as Meryl Streep but the films it has appeared in are undoubtedly some of the most iconic. Especially “The Godfather” by Francis Ford-Coppola! Perhaps the most beloved film franchise of all time, this movie series about an Italian-American mob family in New York has many scenes set in Sicily. You can even visit some of the spots featured in the films. There's the town of Savoca, for example, where Bar Vitelli still stands. This was the bar where Michael Corleone (played by Al Pacino) asked for Apollonia's (played by Simonetta Stefanelli) father for her hand in marriage in the first film.
