There's no doubt that Sicily is a romantic destination. Hollywood alone has already confirmed that. The many movies set here are utterly romantic, making you dream of going to this scenic island with your special someone. And when you do get here, don't miss out on going to Taormina, Saovoca, Ortigia Island, Aeolian Islands, and Scala dei Turchi. These are just some of the most romantic spots in Sicily. A few of them have been featured in films, while others are fairly hidden gems worth discovering again and again. No matter which of them you go to, you're sure to have a great time!
Taormina
While the
many towns in Sicily are undoubtedly beautiful, not all of them are romantic. Some are too busy, like Palermo, while others are too crowded with tourists, like Cefalù. Out of all the towns and villages on the island, only a few are truly romantic. One of them is Taormina, the hilltop commune on the east coast of Sicily. While it's not exactly unreachable, its high altitude location makes it less touristy compared to the other towns. There's also the view from up here, which is nothing short of spectacular! Enjoy the scenery with your special someone as you relax in the charming town of Taormina.

Saovoca
Saovoca is another romantic town worth mentioning and any of you cinephiles out there probably already know why! On its own, this hilltop village in the Messina province will charm your pants off. It's the kind of countryside commune that's perfect for all sorts of romantic escapades. But it truly got famous thanks to a certain Academy Award-winning film, “The Godfather” (1972). The first film of the legendary trilogy, this is actually the town where Michael Corleone (played by Al Pacino) fell in love with Apollonia Vitelli (played by Simonetta Stefanelli) at first sight. Bar Vitelli, the place where Micheal asked Apollonia's father for her hand in marriage, even still stands!

Ortigia Island
Ortigia Island is actually where the old town district of Syracuse is located. Known for its historic sites, the place will make you feel like you traveled back in time. It’s part of what makes
Sicily a great destination. Practically all the corners of this place caught up with the 21st century, giving it an old-world charm that'll definitely tickle any traveler's fancy. You and your partner can spend all day strolling through its beautiful streets, discovering all the secrets that the centuries-old island has hidden over the years. And if you're single, there's a good chance you might bump into someone special while you're there!

Aeolian Islands
Speaking of the islands near Sicily, check out the Aeolian Islands nearby too! From Salina to Stromboli, these smaller destinations also provide the perfect atmosphere for a romantic rendezvous. Some are more remote than others, helping you feel as if you and your significant other are the last two people on Earth. Who knows what you can get up to in some of the largely untouched areas of this island? And as you hop from one island to the next, don't forget to take in all the scenic Mediterranean views. That's half the fun!

Scala dei Turchi
When you
pack for Sicily, especially if you're going on a honeymoon, don't forget your sunscreen. You'll likely spend most of your time outdoors, specifically on the island's most beautiful beaches. They're also some of the most romantic spots in Sicily too, after all. There's no way any couple would miss out on seeing these amazing coasts in person. And among all of them, the Scala dei Turchi on the coast of Realmonte is a definite must-see. The shoreline is made up of cliffs and rock formations that uphold its name, the “Stairs of The Turks” in Italian.
