Not a lot of people realize that
Barcelona is a treasure trove of awesome picnic spots. Every spring and summer, when the sun is shining brightly on the Catalan capital, a picnic makes for the perfect outdoor activity. You can prepare a delicious feast and perhaps even play some games while you're at it. What's great about having a picnic in Barcelona is that the best spots are all so different. Parc de Joan Miró, for example, has such fascinating street art. Parc Cervantes, on the other hand, includes some fanciful flora too. And if you have your picnic in Parc de la Ciutadella, you can eat with the animals in the Barcelona Zoo too!
Parc de la Ciutadella
After the world-famous Park Güell, Parc de la Ciutadella is the next
most popular park in Barcelona. It's the quintessential public park in the city, complete with lush gardens, its own lake, an Instagram-worthy fountain, and even the Barcelona Zoo. With so much to do and see around here, it's no surprise that the park is one of Barcelona's more family-friendly spots. That's what makes it perfect for a picnic spot too. There are more than enough spaces where you can set up your picnic and, at the same time, other features where you can have more fun too.

Parc de Joan Miró
Who could've ever thought that a site where an old slaughterhouse once stood would someday be one of the best spots for a sunny in picnic in Barcelona? Today, Parc de Joan Miró is among the most well-known parks in the Catalan capital. Though it's not as grassy as many other green spaces in the city, the fairly expansive but limited patches of grass are enough. On a nice day, you can lay out your picnic blanket here, perhaps set up a few chairs, and you're good to go. While you're at it, there's an iconic
sculpture you can take a selfie with too: the 22-meter-high abstract Miró statue.

Parc Cervantes
Expect beautiful greenery, colorful flowers, and fresh air in Parc Cervantes. This whole oasis of botanical bliss is another perfect spot for a nice picnic in Barcelona. Imagine getting to eat amidst such fanciful flora! It's as if you were whisked away to a fairy garden. You'd especially want to go on a picnic here around May. It's usually this time of year that the park's 11,000 rose bushes bloom and blossom. Thus, Parc Cervantes looks its most beautiful and smells its sweetest every May. How's that for a great picnic spot in the Catalan capital?

Parc de la Creueta del Coll
While Parc Cervantes is the best Barcelona picnic spot for spring, Parc de la Creueta del Coll takes up that mantle come summer. Don't underestimate just how hot the city gets around this time of year. Barcelona is a coastal city in the Mediterranean. The place gets just as sunny and hot as the
Spanish Islands. And if you can't escape the city to go to such dreamy destinations, Parc de la Creueta del Coll is a nice alternative. The park is famous for its massive pond that serves as a public pool every summer. You can cool off here after your picnic!

Parc Central de Nou Barris
At first glance, Parc Central de Nou Barris doesn't seem like a nice place for a picnic in Barcelona. It's a beautiful park, don't get it wrong, but it's not as green as the other picnic spots on this list. At least, that's what it may seem like at first. In truth, however, Parc Central de Nou Barris is the second-largest green space in the city. It's just that the fascinating sculptures and the old Dosrius aqueduct make it look as if there aren't as many grassy areas. Rest assured that there are and they're perfect for setting up your picnic. There are also wooden tables if you're not too keen on eating on the ground.

Parc de Diagonal Mar
If you thought that Parc Central de Nou Barris didn't look like a picnic spot, you'll definitely think Parc de Diagonal Mar is the same. Perhaps even more so! The park is known for its avant-garde steel structures, various water features, and cool slides for all ages. It's a great place to hang out and have some fun, but a picnic in Barcelona? Well, while it may not have as many green spaces as the others on this list, there are still a few areas where you can set up your picnic. You just have to open your eyes to spot them!

Jardins del Mirador de l’Alcalde
Jardins del Mirador de l’Alcalde won't just let you have a sunny picnic in Barcelona. The mountaintop park will give you an amazing view too! Perched atop Montjuïc, a mountain and one of the
central neighborhoods of Barcelona, Jardins del Mirador de l’Alcalde is truly one of the best picnic spots in the city. It's serene enough that you can have your picnic in peace. There are palm trees to shade you when the sun gets too hot and bright. And of course, don't forget about that stunning view of the Catalan capital. Talk about a memorable picnic!

Jardins de Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer
Do you know what's so great about Jardins de Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer as a picnic spot? The fact that it feels like it's in a world of its own. Even though the park is also in Montjuïc, it's tucked away in a more hidden part of the mountain district. As a result, you won't get the same eye-popping views you'd see if you have your picnic in Jardins del Mirador de l’Alcalde but that's okay! What it may lack in city views, it makes up for in botanical bliss. Tall lush trees, well-cut grassy lawns, and a tranquil pond filled with water-lilies provide the magic in this great picnic spot in Barcelona.

Parc del Laberint d'Horta
Many of the spots mentioned so far are perfect for a family picnic in Barcelona, but what if it's just the two of you? Imagine
spending Valentine's Day in Barcelona and planning a sunny picnic for your date. Where would you take your special someone for an intimate time in such a bustling metropolis? Consider going to Parc del Laberint d'Horta! The park used to be the private gardens of the Desvalls family, whose estate once stood in this very spot. Their mansion has since gone but their labyrinth garden has turned into one of the more romantic picnic spots in Barcelona.
