If there's one place where you can truly learn a lot about fashion, it's Paris. They don't call it the “fashion capital of the world” for nothing! From the art of haute couture to the major fashion houses that rule the industry, the French capital never fails to assert its authority over fashion. As such, the best way to get into the field is to enroll in its best fashion schools. Take Atelier Chardon-Savard, for example. This is arguably the best institution for those who want to have their start in fashion. Whether you're a beginner or already know much about fashion, this school will teach you practically everything you need to know.

History of Atelier Chardon-Savard

Two fashion and luxury behemoths, Cyrille Chardon and Dominique Savard, founded Atelier Chardon-Savard in 1988. They set up the first campus in Paris and, over the years, have opened schools in Nantes and Berlin. For decades, the school has taught trained students in fashion design and fashion communication. And despite being in the game for so long, Atelier Chardon-Savard has adapted to the times too. They've integrated technology and innovation into their various courses, allowing their students to get with the times and graduate more equipped with what the industry is looking for today.

What Does Atelier Chardon-Savard Look Like?

Located on Rue Gambey in the 11th arrondissement, Atelier Chardon-Savard is housed in a pre-war building. You can't miss it with its big blue door, as well as the burnt orange walls above it. But don't let its old-world exterior fool you! The school boasts spacious studios, ateliers, and laboratories inside. They offer expansive spaces for designers to craft their creations, extensive research facilities, and the right equipment to do textile experiments. Its modern interiors prove how dedicated the school is to providing the perfect institution for students to go all out in exploring new possibilities in fashion.

The Atelier Chardon-Savard Student Body

It's obvious from its campus alone that Atelier Chardon-Savard isn't a big school. It's truly a design institution, far from the grand universities in Paris. Even with its student body, the school mostly accepts only around 550 students every term, giving more space to both new and old students to continue their studies and training. But while this number may seem limited, Atelier Chardon-Savard is more than welcoming to international students. Its programs are open to undergraduate and postgraduate students, regardless of their age. As long as you have a high school diploma, you can enroll in this prestigious institution.

Atelier Chardon-Savard's Best Programs and Courses

Atelier Chardon-Savard offers four main programs: Fashion Design, Fashion Brand Design, Fashion Communication, and Style Coaching. Fashion Design is open to all students with a high school diploma. It's a four-year course taught in both French and English, complete with basic and advanced lessons that will help you get a Bachelor's Degree. Fashion Brand Design, on the other hand, is a two-year Master's Degree program with lessons that go beyond design. It's a course that will truly train you to start and develop your own brand. The third, Fashion Communications, is a two-year undergraduate program centered on media and styling. And the fourth, Style Coaching, is a short-term 10-month program that'll train you to style and develop proper PR skills.

How Much Does It Cost to Study in Atelier Chardon-Savard?

Like many of the other fashion schools in Paris, Atelier Chardon-Savard is a fairly expensive institution. The school's tuition fees range from a minimum of €9,000.00 to a maximum of €10,000.00 per year. Considering that each program takes about two to four years, you're looking to pay a minimum of around a minimum of €18,000.00 to a maximum of €40,000.00 for your entire education here. That's on top of the materials you'll need to do your projects. Fashion Design students, for example, will need cutting tools, pattern-making tools, fabrics, embellishments, and more to create their designs.

Where is Atelier Chardon-Savard in Paris?

Atelier Chardon-Savard's Paris campus is at 15 Rue Gambey, 75011. As already mentioned, the school is in the 11th arrondissement, an underrated but still trendy neighborhood in Paris. The area is best known for its lively Rue Oberkampf, a strip of bars, bistros, clubs, and cafes. It's one of the central nightlife spots in the city, drawing in the young and young-at-heart for a good time. This is also why many people live in the arrondissement. The area has some of the best luxury apartments in Paris to rent and, with its excellent location, allows for a cosmopolitan lifestyle.

Atelier Chardon-Savard's Famous Graduates

Atelier Chardon Savard's legacy lives on with its impressive alumni. Though the school has yet to produce superstar designers, it has trained countless professionals in various sectors of the field. There's 2011 graduate Véronique Brault, for example, who established her own costume jewelry brand Zooloo & opened a store on Rue de Turenne. 2013 graduate Alice Sauvage, on the other hand, went on to work as a fashion merchandiser for Chanel, arguably the best-known French label in the world. And 2014 graduate Océane Bouquin eventually became a knitwear designer for Maison Martin Margiela.
