The group got the school's name, BAU, after the famous Bauhaus school in Germany. In 2003, the school moved to its permanent home in the Poblenou district. Three years later, in 2009, Bau then became an affiliate of the University of Vic–Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC), officially becoming a higher educational institution.

Even with three big buildings as its campus, the Bau, Design College of Barcelona student body isn't that big. With mostly around 1,200 students per year, this is almost comparable to the more specialized fashion schools around the world. If you break it down, you'll also find that female students dominate Bau's student body, with around 850 to 900 of them per year. At the same time, the college also welcomes around 400 international enrollees per year, including both new students and those returning who have yet to graduate.

Bau's prerequisites are generally the same for other higher educational institutions, specifically European fashion schools. If you're applying for a Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design, you need to pass the university entrance exam (PAU or EBAU) and submit a secondary education diploma. For foreign applicants, you need to pass admissions exams that are similar to qualifications for local Spanish students. And if you're applying for a Master's Degree here, you'll need a Bachelor's Degree in any related field. It will also help if you curate a portfolio of your work and have work experience.


How Much Does It Cost to Study at The Bau, Design College of Barcelona?

As with any other fashion school, enrolling in Bau will cost a lot. Specifically, the school's tuition fee costs €143.00 per credit. On its own, it doesn't seem much, but since most of its programs require around 240 credits, the tuition fees add up to around €34,320.00 for your entire education here.
