History of IED Barcelona
Though it's now a beloved
fashion school in Barcelona, Istituto Europeo di Design originated in Milan. Francesco Morelli opened the first IED campus in 1966, becoming one of the first and finest design schools in the Italian fashion capital. It didn't take long for the school to gain enough prominence to open other campuses in the country, such as the ones in Rome, Cagliari, and Turin. In the 1990s, IED ventured into Spain, opening a campus in Madrid in 1994. And in 2002, the school finally opened its doors in Barcelona.

The IED Barcelona Student Body
One of the most notable things about IED, be it in Barcelona or Milan, is that it's one of the easiest
fashion schools in the world to get into. Its acceptance rate is 60%, which has resulted in the school accepting about 13,000 students worldwide. That's already a lot for a school specifically devoted to art and design, especially since it's a private higher educational institution. Since IED also has a multitude of campuses across the globe, it's also fairly easy for international students to apply and enroll in the school.
IED Barcelona's Best Programs and Courses
Unsurprisingly, IED Barcelona's best fashion programs relate to the more artistic side of the industry. There's the BA Honours in Fashion Design, for example, which is the school's most popular course. It teaches everything about the art form, from the basics to advanced lessons. The Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design & Styling, on the other hand, emphasized the importance of image-making. If you're interested in getting a Master's Degree from here, the school's program on Textile Design is worth checking out. As for the more business-centric programs, there's also the Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Business, Fashion Marketing, and Fashion Communication.

IED Barcelona’s Prerequisites
A Baccalaureate qualification or anything equivalent is one of the main things you need to get accepted into IED Barcelona, specifically its undergraduate programs. You then have to take an entrance exam, upon which passing will help you get into the institute's artistic courses. When you've passed, there's also a good chance you'll be invited for an entrance interview. If you're already in Barcelona, you'll be invited to the campus for an in-person interview. But if you're applying from abroad, a video chat will do. Once that's all done, you'll then have to wait to receive an acceptance letter.
