In October of 1958, Paris started building Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris in Saint-Cloud, a well-known western suburb of the city. Today, the very same institution now serves as one of the finest international schools in Paris. This is one of the few places in the massive metropolis where kids can learn, study, and play in peace. At the same time, they can foster a global understanding and embrace diversity through the school's international student body. Going beyond the local curriculum, Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris offers high-quality education that the students will be able to use no matter how they go in life.

History of Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris

Though many consider October 23, 1958, the day the first stone for the school was laid, as the anniversary of Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris, the school didn't officially open until November 3rd. At the time, the institution only consisted of three YMCA-owned rooms in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. The following year, on December 1, 1959, the school then moved to a new slew of rented rooms in a grand villa in Neuilly-sur-Seine. It didn't take until 1961 for Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris to move to its permanent home in Saint-Cloud.

What is Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris' Campus Like?

As already mentioned, Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris is located in Saint-Cloud, one of the western Paris Suburbs. From what started as a couple of rented rooms, the school now boasts a big campus with all the standard facilities of an educational institution. There are big buildings that house spacious classrooms, huge hallways, a massive library, a food-filled cafeteria, and more. Its location along the outskirts of Paris also gives it enough outdoor space, which they've used to include areas for sports, a pool for swimming classes, and the like.

The Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris Student Body

Since it offers multiple academic levels—from kindergarten to secondary school—Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris attracts a fairly big number of students. The international school welcomes about 300 kids per year, including both new enrollees and returning students. It's also a fairly diverse student body, comprised of children from France, Germany, and other countries around the world. However, the fact that the school only teaches in either French or German considerably limits the number of enrollees. Hence, Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris is also among the smaller international schools in Paris.

What is Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris' Curriculum?

As an academic institution established by the German government, Internationale Deutsche Schule Paris offers the German curriculum. When your kid graduates from secondary school here, they'll receive either a German Abitur or an AbiBac, a combination of both a German Arbitur and a French Baccalauréat diploma. Thanks to this, they'll be qualified to apply for any prestigious higher educational institution in France or Germany. As for what the kids will learn, the curriculum still includes the normal subjects (math, science, etc.), as well as a few extracurricular activities, ranging from art to athletics.
