History of The American University of Paris
A former US State Department official, Lloyd DeLamater, founded the American University of
Paris in 1962. Also a war veteran, DeLamater witnessed first-hand how the differences between countries could lead to international conflict and grave tragedy. Hence, he established this school to “bridge the gap of narrow nationalisms,” as he once claimed. Before the university became the acclaimed higher educational institution it is today, however, it started as a couple of rented rooms in the American Church of Paris. Beginning with just 100 students learning the same subjects taught in American universities, it didn't take long for the school to reach prominence.
What is The American University of Paris's Campus Like?
Located on Boulevard de La Tour-Maubourg in the
7th arrondissement, The American University of Paris boasts a fairly grand campus in the city's most famous district. Since this is where the Eiffel Tower is also located, you couldn't get any more
French than this. And though it's not the biggest campus, the university still enjoys ample space. It has all the necessary standard facilities of any higher educational institution, not to mention a few outdoor areas that other schools in Paris don't have. Nevertheless, the best part about it is that it's at the heart of the French capital.
