History of Marymount International School
While Marymount International School was officially established in
Paris on September 30, 1923, the school has two histories. The first is all the way back in 1846 when Father Jean Gailhac founded a monastery in Béziers, a city in Southern France. He established the order of sisters to educate young women, which was considered new, different, and progressive at the time. Then, in a separate country, Marymount College opened in Tarrytown, New York in 1908. Much like Father Jean Gailhac's order, the college was also established as one of the few women's educational institutions at the time.
