History of CY Cergy Paris University
Much like other universities in Paris, CY Cergy Paris University is a result of a merger between many higher educational institutions in the city. In October 2019, the French government laid our décret which included the merging of various
colleges and universities in Paris. They include the University of Paris-Seine (ComUE), Cergy-Pontoise University and the École internationale des sciences du traitement de l'information (EIST). By January 1, 2020, these institutions were officially combined, leading to what CY Cergy Paris University is today. Many of the city's other universities started out this way too.
What Does CY Cergy Paris University Look Like?
CY Cergy Paris University boasts an expansive campus in Cergy located in the French department of Val-d'Oise just northwest of Paris. Though it's a fair distance away from the city center, it's not too far from the northern
Paris Suburbs. Hence, it's possible to stay in the Paris Suburbs and still go to school here. Just one glimpse of the campus is enough for any scholar to want to go here too. It's a big and spacious campus with lots of outdoor areas, far from the grand and imposing universities in the central arrondissements.

The CY Cergy Paris University Student Body
It's a good thing that CY Cergy Paris University has a huge campus since it also has a big student body. The school welcomes about 17,200 enrollees per year, including both new applicants and returning students. About 63% of them are undergraduate students while 37% of them are postgraduate students. Moreover, since the university isn't that well-known outside of France, its international student body isn't as big as those in other higher educational institutions in the French capital. Among its over 17,200 students, only about 2,500 of them come from different countries.

Admittedly, CY Cergy Paris University has a limited number of programs taught in English. They're mostly Master's Degree courses, delving in fields like law, economics, and business management. Among the more unique ones is the Master Business Administration (MBA) in Cybersecurity and Smart Systems. It's a fairly new program that explores various security possibilities in the digital age. In relation, there's also the M2 (second year of master) in Political Ideas in a Digital Age, this time concerning maneuvering politics within a digital landscape. It's worth noting that there are very few schools that teach such courses.

CY Cergy Paris University’s Prerequisites
As a respected institution, it's only natural that CY Cergy Paris University imposes fairly strict prerequisites. For example, those applying for its M1 programs are required to have reached a level equal to 180 ECTS (3 or 4 years in a higher education institution), which are usually Bachelor's Degrees in any related field. Those applying for an M2 program, however, will need to have reached a level equal to 240 ECTS instead, which is usually a Master's Degree. And of course, international applicants will need to be proficient in English too, at least a 6.0 or 6.5 IELTS score.
How Much Does It Cost to Study at CY Cergy Paris University?
Is studying in CY Cergy Paris University expensive? Not necessarily! While it's a prominent university in France, even fairly near Paris, its tuition fees are far from high. Generally, the school's tuition fees are only €250.00 per year for French and EU students while it's only €210.00 per year for Non-EU enrollees. At the same time, all students have to pay additional student's healthcare insurance (which varies depending on your specific plan) and a flat €90.00 for campus contributions (CVEC). Don't worry! There are also many scholarship programs available to applicants, including the school's Merit Scholarship, the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme, and French Embassy scholarships.

As already mentioned, CY Cergy Paris University is technically not in Paris. The school is located in Cergy, a commune in the Val-d'Oise department, just northwest of the French capital. While it's a fair distance away from the
central neighborhoods of Paris, specifically the main arrondissements, the town is not too far from the outer suburbs. Cergy itself is also a great place to stay, especially since its far more peaceful and residential compared to Paris. But if you want to stay in the suburbs, you can always rent some of the best
