History of City, University of London

City, University of London, generally referred to as just “City,” traces its origins to the Northampton Institute, which was established in 1852. The school was located on land donated by the Marquess of Northampton, located between Northampton Square and Islington in London, hence it was named after him too. Constituted under the City of London Parochial Charities Act (1883), the institute was established to provide quality education to the local population. But it wasn't until 1909, when students of the City Law School qualified for the University of London, that the school began to partner with the more prominent higher educational institution.

What Does City, University of London Look Like?

City's campus is spread throughout various neighborhoods in London. The main building remains on Northampton Square, complete with the original red-brick Victorian building. There's also the City Law School on Sebastian Street in Islington. Unlike the main building, the law school boasts a more modern, glass-paned building filled with contemporary classrooms, state-of-the-art facilities, and more. And finally, there's the Bayes Business School in St Luke's, Islington. It's also a modern building with big lecture rooms and well-stocked reference rooms. They're all safe and secure, providing ample room for the university's many students.
