History of Agora International School

With how prestigious and prominent it is today, it's almost hard to believe that the Agora International School of Barcelona only started in 2008. Despite being one of the more recent educational institutions to open in the Catalan capital, it didn't take long for the school to draw in students from the city and beyond. Today, it's now one of the best schools in the city, among both local and international schools. It has built an enduring legacy for high-quality education and a safe space for kids to grow, study, and develop.

What is Agora International School's Campus Like?

Located on Montserrat Mountain in Catalonia, Agora International School's campus is a fair distance away from Barcelona's central neighborhoods. You could even say that it's technically not in Barcelona, but it's near enough for the school to still be considered part of the city. The school itself boasts a huge campus, including multiple buildings and more than ample outdoor areas. There are spacious classrooms, a big library, well-equipped laboratories, and more. Since it's also a boarding school, there are also clean and comfortable accommodations that will keep the students safe and secure within the campus.

The Agora International School Student Body

Despite its expansive campus, Agora International School doesn't have that big of a student body. The school welcomes about 450 to 500 enrollees per year, composed of both new applicants and returning students who have yet to graduate. While it's still a lot, generally speaking, it's still pretty small compared to other international schools in Barcelona and beyond. There are about 18 students in each class, which is helpful for teachers to give ample time for each one. Since it's also an international school, a good percentage of the students come from various countries around the world.

What is Agora International School's Curriculum?

Agora International School boasts an IB Diploma Program, a leading curriculum in the field of education. Commonly adopted by international schools in general, the program focuses on the student's academic performance on top of everything else. This is to prepare them for the real world, perhaps even help them get into the top universities in London, the Ivy League schools in the US, and other prestigious schools. Don't worry! The school still allows for extracurricular activities too, especially athletics & the arts, but most of the focus is on the major subjects. They include mathematics, sciences, and social studies, among many others. Additionally, the school also offers optional language classes, including Catalan, Spanish, French, German, and more.

How Much Does It Cost to Study at Agora International School?

Is it expensive to enroll your kids in the Agora International School in Barcelona? In the grand scheme of things, yes, it is. The school's tuition fees start at €3,800.00 in nursery & kindergarten and it increases as the student ascends each grade level. It culminates in grade 12, which will cost you about €10,350.00 per year. These are generally high prices, especially compared to local public schools in the city, but they're also some of the lowest fees among Europe's top international schools. Other similar academic institutions typically cost a minimum of €10,000.00 per year.

Where is Agora International School in Barcelona?

As already mentioned, Agora International School is located in Montserrat, a populated mountain near Barcelona. While it's technically outside of the city, it's so near the Catalan capital that the area, especially the school, is widely regarded as part of Barcelona. Even though Montserrat is a mountainous area, it remains an urban district with a lot of the normal and necessary establishments of a town. Naturally, this includes the international school, many shops nearby, business hubs, and even many luxury homes to rent in Barcelona. The rentals here are also comparatively more affordable than those in the city center.
