The International School of Catalunya is as important and as impressive as it sounds. Located at the heart of Barcelona, the multilingual British school offers excellent education and well-detailed development. It only opened in 2007 yet it didn't take long for the school to garner as much prestige as other, more historic international schools in Barcelona. What makes it a prominent institution is how it embraces globalism and encourages a sense of diversity and openness among its young students. This way, the school also teaches and trains them to take hold of the real world.

History of The International School of Catalunya

The International School of Catalunya was established in 2007 and it didn't take long to reach the level of prominence it enjoys today. For one thing, it's a British international school in Barcelona, becoming one of many in the Catalan capital. This alone had many families, specifically those who don't speak and understand Spanish, interested in enrolling their kids here. Five years after its founding, in 2012, the school also introduced its Forest School program, a pioneer project that promotes education within outdoor activity. It's a new way of teaching kids that allows them to explore the world at large.

What is The International School of Catalunya's Campus Like?

The International School of Catalunya's campus is located in La Garriga, a small municipality near Barcelona. Though it's a fair distance away from the city center, it's still close enough for the city’s residents to enroll their kids here while staying in Barcelona’s central neighborhoods. At the same time, the school's location in the more rural town allows it to enjoy a lot of space, specifically more outdoor areas. This helped the school establish its Forest School program, which lets them take the students on study trips in nearby lands. While the campus itself boasts the standard school facilities, large sports courts, and impressive security.

The International School of Catalunya Student Body

Despite how big its campus is, the International School of Catalunya has a small student body. The school only has over 150 students per year, which includes both new enrollees and those returning who haven't graduated yet. In terms of student bodies, the International School of Catalunya is among the smallest in all of Barcelona. Nevertheless, even with very few students, the school remains as diverse as ever. Its student body is about 90% local and 10% international, with the latter coming from over 19 different countries around the world. This further proves just how global of a school it truly is.

What is The International School of Catalunya's Curriculum?

As a British school in Barcelona, the International School of Catalunya follows the British national curriculum. What separates it from other curricula in the UK (as well as Spain) is that it's a student-focused program. While it still stresses the importance of academics, the curriculum is more focused on helping the student grow, develop, and learn at their own pace. It also maintains a nice balance between academics and extracurricular activities, including athletics and the arts. That's how the school was more than able to establish its Forest School program too.

How Much Does It Cost to Study at The International School of Catalunya?

As a private international school, the International School of Catalunya is also among the most expensive in Barcelona. Its starting price is €8,069.00 per year, which is just for the student's kindergarten years. The tuition then increases as the student ascends each grade level, culminating in about €14,984.00 per year by grade 12. There are very few other schools in the city that have tuition fees as high as this. On top of all that, there's also the one-time enrollment fee, which costs around €2,100.00 per student. Do you think you can afford all that?

Where is The International School of Catalunya in Barcelona?

As already mentioned, the International School of Catalunya is located in La Garriga, a relatively small town in Catalonia. Since it's so close to Barcelona, the school is largely regarded as part of the Catalan capital. The town itself, however, is still fairly urban, complete with its own autonomy, various establishments, and more. It's a great place for families to settle down since it's also a lot safer and more peaceful than the bustling metropolis. You'll also find that it has some of the more affordable luxury homes to rent in Barcelona, especially ones that are not too far from the school.
