History of The British School of Amsterdam
Much like the British schools in other major cities, the British School of Amsterdam started as a project of British families living in the city. Founded in 1978, the academic institution was founded by three families who were on two-year contracts in
Amsterdam. They decided to open the school to ensure that their own kids wouldn't fall behind in their education, specifically according to the English system. Two years later, in 1980, the school truly came to fruition when they secured a building in Jekerstraat 86 to be the school's first official campus.
What is The British School of Amsterdam's Campus Like?
Today, the British School of Amsterdam stands at Havenstraat 6 in the middle of
Amsterdam's central neighborhoods. Far from the half of the building that the school had to contend with during its early days, its campus has grown into one of the biggest in the city. It's now a huge school complex filled with big classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, a well-stocked library, a large cafeteria, and even some outdoor areas. All of this allows the students to learn properly, study diligently, but also have some much-needed playtime outside. The campus lets the kids stay kids even when they're studying for their futures.

The school welcomes about 1,100 enrollees per year, composed of both new applicants and returning students who have yet to graduate. How Much Does It Cost to Study at The British School of Amsterdam?
As an elite international school, the British School of Amsterdam is understandably expensive. Even when you enroll your kid in the lowest grade, kindergarten, it will already cost you around €18,750.00 per year. For primary school, the tuition fees go up to around €19,119.00 to €19,497.00 per year, specifically from grades 1 to 5. Starting secondary school, it goes up again, this time about €20,700.00 per year, spanning from grades 6 to 12. On top of all that, there's also the one-time €750.00 enrollment fee and €250.00 application fee, among many other add-ons.
