History of The Maryel School of New York

For one of the newer international schools in New York City, Maryel School has a pretty extensive history. Maryel itself started in 2004. Celine Cacho, a visionary in Spanish education, founded the institution as a way to highlight and polish each kid's unique gifts and talents. The first school opened in Spain and, over time, has set up various locations throughout the world. This school in New York was among the first ones. The school's board of trustees began exploring the idea of opening a school in the Big Apple as early as 2008. And by 2013, the Maryel School of New York officially opened.

What is The Maryel School of New York's Campus Like?

The Maryel School of New York is located in Murray Hill on the east side of Manhattan, one of the more underrated neighborhoods of New York City. It's one of the city's more residential areas, making it one of the best places in the borough to open the school. Since it's only a primary school, its campus is far from the biggest in Manhattan, let alone in the entire city. It has all the necessary, standard school facilities, but overall, the Maryel School of New York is relatively small. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be big. The campus is just right for the young ones who study here.

The Maryel School of New York Student Body

Just how small is the Maryel School of New York? Well, it mostly has about only 50 kids in its student body. This includes both new applicants and returning enrollees who have yet to graduate. In its size alone, the institution is more akin to a nursery school instead of a standard international school in New York City. Luckily, its small student body gives more room for teachers to exert more time and effort for each pupil. Even more so since there's an average of about 12 students per class.

What is The Maryel School of New York's Curriculum?

What sets the Maryel School apart from other international schools in New York City is that it's a bilingual school. They teach both Spanish and English here, making it a go-to academic institution for many of the city's Spanish and Latinx students. At the same time, it upholds the Maryel School's original mission in its education—discovering and highlighting every kid's unique gifts and talents. Hence, the students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities. Those who do well in athletics, the arts, and beyond are just as recognized as the high achievers in academics.

No. It's arguably affordable if you earn enough to spend a little less than $40,000.00 per year for your kid's education, but if not, then this school is undoubtedly expensive. To be more specific, New York's Maryel School's tuition fees range from a minimum of $33,680.00 to a maximum of $37,850.00 per year.
