History of The Lyceum Kennedy French American School
Weirdly enough, the Lyceum Kennedy International School traces its origins to Lycée Français de New York, an older French-American international school that's also in
New York City. A teacher from that school, Éliane Dumas, established this one to serve as a more accessible French-language school in the city. Dumas founded the school in 1964 and named it after President John F. Kennedy, who was infamously assassinated a year before in 1963. Upon opening, it didn't take long for the school to gain prominence, eventually getting accreditation from the French Ministry of Education. In September 2014, it also officially became an International Baccalaureate school.
