If you're moving to Miami or in Florida in general and you want your kids to get the best education possible, consider enrolling them in the Windermere Prep School. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, this academic institution prepares them to take on the real world and ensure success in their futures. It operates as both a day and boarding school, relies heavily on academics, and works hard to help students reach new academic heights. True to its name, the school also prepared them to possibly get into the most prestigious institutions for their higher education.

History of The Windermere Preparatory School

With how big it is now, it's almost impossible to believe Windermere Preparatory School started as a small school. It was founded on September 5, 2000, and began with temporary classrooms in the small town of Windermere in Florida. At the time, it only had about 184 students and 25 teachers. It wasn't even a boarding school back then too. It was so small that it could only operate as a standard school in the largely suburban town. Over time, the school has grown to welcome over a thousand students per year and hundreds of faculty staff.

What is Windermere Preparatory School's Campus Like?

From what started as a campus of temporary classrooms, the Windermere Preparatory School is now a massive boarding school. Today, it boasts a 48-acre campus with refined school buildings, ample outdoor areas, and comfortable living spaces for its boarding students. Located near Lake Butler, it's a waterfront school that lets its students stay close to nature. But what's truly important about the school's campus is how safe it is. Those who live in Miami's central neighborhoods and other Florida cities nearby can have peace of mind with how secure the school is.

The Windermere Preparatory School Student Body

The Windermere Preparatory School is one of the biggest international schools in Florida, both in campus and student body. In its early days, the school could only manage to get a little under 200 students, but now, it welcomes about 1,800 enrollees per year. This is composed of both new applicants and returning students who have yet to graduate. Moreover, the school's student body is pretty diverse too. It's made up of 62.2% white students, 9% Hispanic students, 6.1% Asian students, 5.3% Black students, 3.4% Multiracial students, 0.2% Native American students, and over 13.2% international students.

What is Windermere Preparatory School's Curriculum?

The Windermere Preparatory School takes pride in its status as an IB World School. This also means that the institution follows the International Baccalaureate Diploma program, which focuses heavily on academics. By upholding the importance of standard subjects such as mathematics, science, social studies, and the like, the school works to ensure that the students reach greater scholastic heights. Overall, its curriculum is curated to help the students graduate with ease and hopefully get into the world's most prestigious schools, like the Ivy League colleges in the US, the top universities in London, and more.

How Much Does It Cost to Study at The Windermere Preparatory School?

To say that the Windermere Preparatory School is expensive is a gross understatement. It's perhaps one of the most expensive international schools in Florida. For students who aren't boarding, their tuition fees already cost at a minimum of $19,775.00 (pre-K) to a maximum of $28,610.00 (grades 9 to 12) per year. As for boarding students, their tuition fees cost around $58,800.00 (five-day stay) to $79,900.00 (all-week stay) per year. On top of all that, there are also additional fees. There are the new student fees and international student fees, for example, which cost $1,500.00 each.

Where is Windermere Preparatory School in Florida?

As already mentioned, the Windermere Preparatory School is located in the town of Windermere in Orange County, Florida. It's 220 miles away from Miami, which makes the fact that it's a boarding school all the more convenient for families who have moved to Miami to send their kids to school here. As for Windermere itself, it's a quiet and largely residential town. It's also considered a suburb of the bigger Orlando metropolitan area, making it a great place to raise kids in the state. Fortunately, the town also has some of the more affordable luxury homes in Florida.
