History of Saint Andrew’s School
Saint Andrew’s School first opened in 1961 and was one of the first Episcopal schools in the
Miami. Even in its early days, it was already operating as both a boarding and day school, but back then, it was only for boys. An Episcopal priest, Rev. Hunter Wyatt-Brown, opened the school to provide young men with proper education regardless of their background. It was groundbreaking at the time in that it was one of the first schools that welcomed boys of all races. This was even more notable with the fact that the 1960s were notoriously tumultuous regarding race relations in the US.
