History of Julia R. Masterman School
The Julia R. Masterman School was established in September of 1958 and right off the bat, it was already one of the top schools in
Philadelphia. It started as an elementary school in its first year, eventually adding a middle school the following year, 1959. By 1976, it had already added a senior high school, making it a go-to academic institution for students who plan on going to college afterward. Additionally, the school was named after Julia Reynolds Masterman, who served as the first president of the Philadelphia Home and School Council. Her family still participates in school events.

Today, the Julia R. Masterman School is located along the main street of the Spring Garden, one of the
central neighborhoods in Philadelphia. It's housed in a historic building that was once used as the Philadelphia High School for Girls, but the latter has since moved to a new campus on W Olney Avenue. Nevertheless, the famous school building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places under the previous school's name. The campus itself, however, is far more modern now.
