History of Bodine High School for International Affairs
The Bodine High School for International Affairs is perhaps the most historic school in
Philadelphia for the youth. While the academic institution itself was founded in 1981, its campus was built in 1924. Irwin T. Catharine, who served as the chief architect of Philadelphia's public schools, built the school in the Art-Deco style. It housed the Thomas Jefferson School before and was even named as such when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. In the 1980s, the World Affairs Council cooperated with the Philadelphia School District to establish the William W. Bodine High School for International Affairs.

As already mentioned, the Bodine High School for International Affairs is located in the Art Deco building on N 4th St., the former campus of the Thomas Jefferson School. It’s located in the Northern Liberties
neighborhood of Philadelphia just north of the city center. Though it's a single high school building, it's still a big place with all the standard school facilities. It has big classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, a gymnasium, a library, and more. Despite its location in a very bustling part of the city, it also remains safe and secure.

The Bodine High School for International Affairs Student Body
Since it's only a high school, the Bodine High School for International Affairs Student Body has a fairly small student body. Today, it only has over 320 students per year, composed of both new enrollees and those returning who have yet to graduate. It has a fairly equal balance of 170 female students and 150 male students too. In terms of its racial makeup, the school's student body is composed of 52% Black students, 20% Latino students, 11% Asian students, 10 White students and 7% Multiracial students. Such diversity is what further upholds the school's international appeal.

Bodine High School for International Affairs has been an IB World School since April 8, 2005. As such, it provides the world-renowned International Baccalaureate curriculum, which notably prepares students to take on higher education. Those who go to high school in IB World Schools typically continue to college & university, at times even the most prestigious Ivy League Schools or the
top universities in London. With a heavy focus on academics, this curriculum ensures that students have ample opportunity to excel in their studies all while participating in extracurricular activities.
