Staying true to its name, the
Girls Academic Leadership Academy (GALA) continues to teach and produce fine young women for the community. This public high school in Los Angeles has long served as a safe space for female students to learn, strive hard, and continue to pursue higher education. GALA also stands out in its focus on Mathematics and Science, two subjects that the rest of the world considers girls to be inferior at. But as this academic institution has and continues to prove over the years, that's simply not true!

History of GALA
Plans to set up the Girls Academic Leadership Academy were made as early as 2013. It was initially supposed to be a middle school only, namely from grades 6 to 9, but it was then decided to add a senior high school, extending it to include grades 10 to 12. After three years of planning and construction, GALA finally opened in 2016. Afterward, the
Los Angeles Unified School District planned to open an all-boys school to comply with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Hence, the Boys Academic Leadership Academy opened in 2017 in Westmont, California.
What is GALA's Campus Like?
GALA is located on St James Pl near many of
LA's central neighborhoods. Thanks to its strategic location, many families who live in different districts are able to send their daughters here. Fortunately, GALA boasts a big and safe campus. It has all the standard school facilities, including big classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, a massive library, a huge cafeteria, and even some outdoor spaces. It's also worth noting how secure the campus is, especially since it's not too far from the city center. The girls who go to school here have nothing to worry about when it comes to their safety.

The GALA Student Body
The Girls Academic Leadership Academy (GALA) boasts a fairly big campus for a secondary school. The school welcomes over 720 students per year, including both new enrollees and those returning who have yet to graduate. While it may not seem all that big on its own, it's still nearly 1,000 students, which is usually how many students schools with kindergarten and primary schools have. As an all-girls school, GALA only admits female students and they're made up of around 29% White students, 28% Hispanic students, 15% Multiracial students, 14% Black students, 10% Asian students, 3% Pacific Islander students, and 1% Native American students.
What is GALA's Curriculum?
Girls Academic Leadership Academy (GALA) stands out for its emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Usually, all-girls schools mainly focus on liberal arts, humanities, and the like. This academic institution has gained prominence in pushing young women to take on fields often dominated by men. Hence, the school focuses heavily on academics too. Its program is designed to help students get good grades and someday pursue higher education. The school also has a good track record in producing graduates who went on to study in Ivy League Schools, the
top universities in London, and more.

As already mentioned, GALA is located on St James Pl, Los Angeles. The area is fairly near the city center, so it's not too far from various neighborhoods. This then allows many residents to send their daughters to school here no matter where they are in the city. Fortunately, these neighborhoods also have some of the finest
luxury homes to rent in Los Angeles, both in terms of their accommodations and affordability. At the same time, these areas are largely residential and some of the main suburbs of the city.
