La Scuola International School is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious international schools in San Francisco. Spanning from preschool to middle school, It's a prominent International Baccalaureate (IB) bilingual academic institution that also teaches in Italian, fairly unique from the usual French and German international schools. While it's not necessarily the most famous school in the city, La Scuola remains a respected institution where kids are provided with high-quality education that will help them go above and beyond. Here, young minds are honed to someday take on higher education, possibly even in some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the world.

History of La Scuola International School

Established in 2022, La Scuola International School serves as the only Reggio Emilia-inspired international school in San Francisco. It's also one of the very few International Baccalaureate (IB) and Italian language immersion schools in the world, making it even more of a prominent academic institution in the city. Its Italian origins and language make it one of the more unique international schools in San Francisco, especially since other similar schools in the city tend to be either French, German, or Chinese. There aren't a lot of Italian international schools in this city or any other big city.


What is La Scuola International School's Campus Like?

La Scuola International School has multiple campuses throughout various neighborhoods in San Francisco and the rest of the Bay area. One is its Dogpatch campus in the area of the same name, located near Downtown San Francisco and Potrero Hill. This is where preschool and primary schools are located, making it one of the smaller campuses in the city. The second campus is in the Mission district and boasts a beautiful wood-frame exterior designed by Charles Devlin. This is where the middle school is located, complete with all the standard school facilities, ample outdoor areas, and more.

Despite how big and spread out its campuses are, La Scuola International School has a fairly small student body. Today, the school only welcomes about 430 students per year, including both new enrollees and those returning who have yet to graduate. This is considerably smaller compared to other international schools in San Francisco, which normally have around 1,000 to 2,000 students annually. In terms of its diversity, around 37.6% of the entire student body is made up of minority enrollees. To break it down even further, the school has 62.4% White students, 20.1% Multiracial students, 9.3 Hispanic students, 6.7% Asian/ Pacific Islander students, 0.5% Black students, and 0.5% Native American students.

Is it expensive to enroll your kids at La Scuola International School? Generally speaking, yes, it is. When you take into account the high living costs in San Francisco, this school's tuition fees will undoubtedly look more expensive. Its preschool alone, for example, already costs around $34,550.00 per year for part-time students and around $43,200.00 for full-time enrollees. Come primary school, the tuition fees increase even more, this time to around $43,770.00 per year. Upon reaching middle school, the prices go up to about $45,860.00 per year. As already mentioned, La Scuola International School has campuses in different central neighborhoods of San Francisco. The second campus is in the more famous Mission district, best known for its colorful hipster vibe. This is more for single adults planning to live a cosmopolitan life in the city.
