Lycée Français de San Francisco is one of the oldest and most prestigious international schools in San Francisco. Not to be confused with the older International School of San Francisco, which is nearly just as old and also operates as a bilingual French-American school, Lycée Français is an entirely different institution. It started as a satellite campus of the aforementioned international school but has since become its own entity. Today, it's become an even more global academic institution where kids from various cultures, languages, and walks of life can study, learn, grow, and develop together.

History of Lycée Français de San Francisco

Claude Lambert and Claude Reboul founded Lycée Français de San Francisco in 1967. It originally served as a satellite campus of the French American International School, which is now known as the International School of San Francisco. Years later, in 1986, the school merged with the French School of Marin, becoming the academic institution it is today. Upon its founding, Lycée Français de San Francisco became the second bilingual school in the city. Today, it has retained its bilingual operation, using both English and French to teach students. Hence, it's now one of the finest international schools in San Francisco.

What is Lycée Français de San Francisco's Campus Like?

Lycée Français de San Francisco has multiple campuses from various neighborhoods in San Francisco. There's the Ashbury campus, for example, which houses the preschool to grade 5. The Sausalito Campus also holds both the preschool to grade 5 classes, as well as La Petite Ecole (a part-time program for children age 2+). The Ortega campus, on the other hand, houses the middle & senior high school. All campuses are fairly big and house the standard school facilities, including big classrooms, equipped laboratories, big libraries, massive cafeterias, and ample outdoor spaces.

What is Lycée Français de San Francisco's Curriculum?

Lycée Français de San Francisco boasts a unique program that combines both the French Baccalauréat and the American High School diploma. The school is accredited by the French Ministry of Education and mostly follows the French National Curriculum, which means graduates here are also eligible to apply to the most prestigious universities in Paris and the rest of France. At the same time, the school's English program still teaches American History, American English, and the like. So its graduates are also eligible to apply to the most prominent American higher education institutions, including the iconic Ivy League Schools.
