History of The International School of San Francisco
Though the International School of San Francisco was established in 1962, it didn't officially open until September 16, 1963. Its founders include Murray Richards, Richard Ham, Germain Thompson, and M. Scian. Thompson also served as the first directress of the school, becoming one of the first women to hold such a position in
San Francisco. At the same time, the school, which was initially named the “French American Bilingual School,” served as one of the city's first bilingual schools. While it has since changed its name, the school still teaches and uses French as a main language.

From what started as a small two-room school in the 1960s, the International School of San Francisco now has one of the biggest student bodies in San Francisco. Today, the school welcomes over 2,000 students per year, including both new enrollees and those returning who have yet to graduate. It's also a diverse student body, with over 64.5% of them White students, 28.3% of them Multiracial students, 4.1% of them Hispanic students, 2.1% of them Asian students, and 1% of them Black students. Moreover, around 93% of all students consider themselves creative and artsy students.

The International School of San Francisco takes pride in the fact that it offers both the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) degree and the French Baccalauréat. The former is a renowned academic program tailored to ensure that all students get good enough grades to take on higher education. It's also known to focus more on academics but still leaves room for students to participate in extracurricular activities at the same time. Hence, the International School of San Francisco is known for its extensive arts program too. It boasts theater, music, visual arts, and film programs that a majority of the student body participates in.

How Much Does It Cost to Study at The International School of San Francisco?
Unsurprisingly, it's fairly expensive to send your kids to the International School of San Francisco. The school already costs around $39,180.00 per year from pre-K to grade 8, considerably more expensive than other schools in San Francisco. Upon reaching senior high school, namely from grades 9 to 12, the tuition fee increases to around $57,160.00 per year. Fortunately, the school has incorporated a payment system wherein parents can pay in installments for around 10 months. But it does, however, increase the price a bit. Under the installment payment plan, the tuition fee for pre-K to middle school will be around $40,280.00 per year while senior high school will cost over $58,260.00 per year.
