Not to be confused with the more famous and arguably more prestigious University of Nottingham, Nottingham College is a separate but equally prominent academic institution in the city of the same name. It's a much smaller school, but the education offered here is just as vast and diverse. Whether you want to get into IT, engineering, art & design, or even animal science, this college offers many different programs. Its diversity is its strongest ace, offering a place for some of the more unique fields that students would likely not see in any other academic institution in the UK and beyond.

History of Nottingham College

When New College Nottingham and Central College Nottingham merged, it produced Nottingham College. Based in the English city of Nottingham, it's one of the largest higher educational institutions in the UK. Both former schools are pretty historic in their own right. New College Nottingham, for instance, was also an amalgamation of previous schools. They included Arnold and Carlton College from 1960, Clarendon College of Further Education from 1919, and the High Pavement Sixth Form College from 1788. Central College Nottingham, on the other hand, came from another merger of various other schools in the city. They include South Nottingham College from 1970 and The People's College, one of the oldest further educational colleges in England, from 1847.

What Does Nottingham College Look Like?

Despite how historic Nottingham College is, particularly the former schools that merged and became the college it is today, its campus is pretty modern. Its campus is fairly spread throughout different neighborhoods in Nottingham, including those near the city center. One of the older buildings is the Adams Building on Stoney Street. It's Grade II listed and is located not too far from the equally historic Lace Market. The City Hub is the school's more modern campus. It's filled with state-of-the-art facilities that aid in the students' training in various fields.

The Nottingham College Student Body

Nottingham College is one of the largest student bodies among the many higher educational schools in the UK. Today, the school welcomes around 40,000 students per year, including both new enrollees and those returning who have yet to graduate. About 15,000 are full-time students, a majority of whom are also undergraduates. While the rest are part-time students, the majority are postgraduates, and many of them are also working at the same time. This highlights how Nottingham College is as much a vocational school as it is a standard college.
