Los Angeles is a lot more magical than people realize. It's understandable to think that summer is the best season here. You can't beat that California sun and paradisiacal beaches along the West Coast. It's almost as if the city was built specifically so you can enjoy summer to the fullest! With that said, however, springtime still arrives first and LA is as exciting as ever during this time of year. It's arguably the best season to visit the famous Griffith Park, spend the day with family at Disneyland, and even go celebrity-hunting since it's awards season too!
Try to Spot Celebrities in Hollywood
Springtime doesn't just make the flowers bloom, it also lets out the celebrities in LA. The city doesn't necessarily get so cold in the winter that people don't go out, but fewer people do around this time of year. Including celebrities. A lot of them are either luxuriating in their private estates or going off to the Caribbean or the Mediterranean for vacation. Come spring, however, you'll notice that more and more famous people are out and about. As long as you go to their usual haunts such as Rodeo Drive in
Beverly Hills, there's a good chance you might see them in person.
Spend The Awards Season Here!
Another reason why celebrities are out and about in spring in Los Angeles is that it's also the highly anticipated awards season. The first few shows, such as the Golden Globes, are still right around winter. But the ones that come after are usually held at the start of spring. Hollywood Boulevard, it's the most prestigious awards show in the entire entertainment industry. If you go here on the day itself, you might get into the stands and see the A-listers walk on the red carpet.
Go to Disneyland with Friends & Family
Spring is arguably the best time for people to go out in LA. You'll know this when you
move to Los Angeles yourself! While the city stays sunny all year round, the temperature at this time of year is just right. It's not too cold, not too hot, and sunny just the same. Hence, this is also one of the best times to go to Disneyland with friends and family. Though spring break tends to bring the crowds, some parts of the season have the lowest number of visitors. You just have to be smart about when you schedule your trip!
Visit The Iconic Griffith Park
What's another park that's worth visiting in spring in Los Angeles? Griffith Park! Since the weather is nice and the temperature is just right, you couldn't have asked for a better time to go here. Located in the Los Feliz
neighborhood of Los Angeles, it has several features that go beyond the world-famous Griffith Observatory. Naturally, this is a must-see, especially for couples who want to have a “La La Land”-type romance here (don't expect musical numbers though!), but there's also the Los Angeles Zoo, the Autry Museum of the American West, and of course, the iconic Hollywood Sign.
Check Out The Cherry Blossom Festival
Cherry blossoms in spring in LA? Why yes! For those who don't know, many places boast cherry blossoms in Los Angeles. While they're not as abundant here as, say, Japan, there are still enough that people set up festivals for them in the springtime. Check out the Cherry Blossom Festival in Monterey Park, for example, which comes with various stalls amidst the blossomed rosy trees. The Cherry Blossom Festival in Columbia Park in Torrance, on the other hand, is perfect for creating new and more content for your Instagram.
Have Fun at Santa Monica Pier
Much like Disneyland and Griffith Park, the Santa Monica Pier is another great place to spend spring in Los Angeles. Some would argue that going here in summer is better, but you shouldn't underestimate how hot this famous coast gets around this time of year. If you're not careful, you'll get a heatstroke before you do anything! Springtime, in contrast, has warmth and sunshine without the intense heat. You can run around here, go from one attraction to the next, and still barely sweat. You'll just have to avoid the spring break dates though, since that's also when the Santa Monica Pier is the busiest.
Listen to Live Country Music at Santa Clara
If you're a big fan of country music, you should head to Santa Clara, California every spring. The Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival is held every mid-April and is one of the most exciting events in spring in Los Angeles. It features top country music stars, the most exotic snack stalls, mechanical bull riding contests, and more. The West Coast isn't exactly known for Cowboy culture, so seeing it in this part of the country is a fun novelty. It's also a great event to hang out with friends and family around this time of year.
Shop All Over The City!
Apart from just before the holiday season, spring is arguably the best time to go
shopping in Los Angeles. Not only will the biggest brands release their latest collections around this time, but many of them might still have plenty of last season's pieces sold at a discount. And as usual, the milder weather and more moderate climate make it more comfortable to spend time outside, perfect for the city's many outdoor shopping hotspots. From Rodeo Drive and Melrose Avenue to The Grove and Third Street Promenade, some of these retail destinations will have you under the sun for most of the day.
Spending spring in Los Angeles deserves more credit. Though the city is known for its eternally sunny weather, LA still has plenty in store for the season. There's the highly anticipated Awards Season, the Cherry Blossom Festival, and more!
