History of St Joseph School and Nursery

The Sisters of Mercy founded St Joseph's School and Nursery in 1934, initially to educate the Catholic children in Nottingham. At the time, the school had direct institutional ties to the Diocese and Saint Barnabas' Cathedral, which were then severed in 1990. Though it remains a Catholic school to this day, St Joseph's School has become more open in admitting students of different faiths and beliefs. Today, any child living in Nottingham is welcome to enroll here, even though it has also remained a small village school within the city.

What is St Joseph School and Nursery's Campus Like?

St Joseph School & Nursery is located on Derby Road in The Park, one of the affluent neighborhoods in Nottingham. It stands out with its old-world exterior, looking more like a giant timbered cottage than a typical school. While the outside looks classic, the inside is still contemporary, complete with standard school facilities. There are spacious classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, common areas for kids to play, and more. Its nursery is also a popular feature as it's a safe and secure space for little ones to play, run around, and keep safe during the day.

It's also worth noting that though St Joseph Independent School & Nursery is a Catholic school, it has since opened its doors to students of different faiths and beliefs.

What is St Joseph School and Nursery's Curriculum?

St Joseph School & Nursery follows the National Curriculum in the UK, which focuses on a set of subjects and standards universally used by primary and secondary schools throughout the country.
