Don't let the winter cold dampen your mood! February 2025 in
Paris will be a ball! There are annual holidays, fun festivals, and major concerts you wouldn't want to miss. February tends to be when Paris is at its most somber, perhaps because it's usually the coldest time of the year and it's the shortest month. Valentine's Day in Paris sounds like a good idea, but it's not always the dream date you're hoping for (it's still good though!). Fortunately, February 2025 already has a slate of events and holidays worth looking forward to!
Crêpe Day (February 2)
Perhaps it's because the French already have a lot of famous desserts, but people tend to forget that crêpes come from France. While the rest of the world fawns over croissants and macarons, the French still love crêpes just as much. So much so that they've set an entire holiday for it. February 2nd is known in France as “La Chandeleur” or Crêpe Day and they take it very seriously. In Paris alone, you'll see several crêpe stalls crowded with people wanting to buy as many as they can. They don't just do it for fun too. There's also a French superstition that eating crêpes every February 2nd will bring prosperity.
Paris Mardi Gras (February 2)
As you indulge in some crepes on February 2, 2025, head to the
20th arrondissement too. This is where the Paris Mardi Gras parade will take place, continuing a centuries-long tradition. Similarly to its more famous counterpart in New Orleans, the French capital's Mardi Gras is just as colorful, flamboyant, and fabulous. Around 5,000 dancers clad in extravagant costumes parade down the streets of the area, all led by French Limousin beef cow Pimprenelle with her escort, Pat The Clown. The city has been following this tradition since Medieval times so it's quite a fascinating sight to see.
One Thousand and One Orchids Show (Begins on February 6)
If you want to take a break from the cold
winter in Paris without leaving the city, check out the “One Thousand and One Orchids Show” at Jardin des Plantes. The popular botanical garden's greenhouse displays over 1,001 orchids, all beautiful and beguiling and some are even rare too. With such botanical bliss on offer, you'll undoubtedly forget how freezing it is in Paris every February. Fortunately, they also heat the greenhouse to ensure all the plants inside will stay alive through winter. So you couldn't have asked for a cozier escape than this!
Retromobile (February 5 to 9)
Paris loved everything vintage. Vintage fashion, vintage records, and every February, you can witness how much they love vintage cars too. It's around this time of year that the French capital holds its annual Retromobile Show, an awesome exhibition of classic cars and historic automobile models. Held at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in the
15th arrondissement, the famous trade center turns into a treasure trove of vintage cars, each shinier and more colorful than the next. Even if you can't afford to buy and collect them yourself, you can still check out what people used to drive back in the day.
Artificial Intelligence Action Summit (February 10 to 11)
While it's unclear whether the upcoming Artificial Intelligence Action Summit on February 10 to 11, 2025, will be open to the public, it's worth knowing about it just the same. Heads-of-state and prominent CEOs will head to the stage at the iconic Grand Palais in the
9th arrondissement to talk about AI. At this point, it's undeniable that artificial intelligence is here to stay and the world will be using it. From huge corporations to government entities, this summit will let world leaders explain what exactly they plan to do with AI and how it will affect everyone.
Première Vision Paris (February 11 to 13)
Have you ever wondered how certain looks and styles become trends? It's no coincidence that designers trot out collections every
Paris Fashion Week with various similarities, giving birth to the new trends of the season. Do they hold a meeting or something and talk about what will be the new look? Well, it's something like that! Première Vision Paris is a global event for fashion professionals where upcoming trends are laid out. The upcoming edition will take place at the Maison de la Mutualité on February 11 to 13, 2025. From colors and silhouettes to references to past aesthetics, this exhibition will introduce what most people will likely wear next year.
Valentine's Day (February 14)
Naturally, you can't forget about Valentine's Day. The French capital is known as the “City of Love” so it's no surprise that the holiday is taken very seriously. It's even a time when tourism reaches a sudden peak despite how cold it is. That's how much people, both locals and tourists alike, would want to spend
Valentine's Day in Paris. This is one of the best places to truly spoil and pamper your special someone. Take them to a Michelin-starred restaurant and enjoy a candlelit dinner. Book a day at a luxurious spa and relax to your heart's content!
Salon Agriculture (Begins on February 22)
Have you ever wondered about where your food comes from? Especially if you moved to Paris? It's no secret that the French capital is known for its exceptional cuisine, but where exactly does the food here originate? And are they even safe to consume to begin with? If you're asking all these questions, the Paris International Agricultural Show, or 'Salon Agriculture,' will answer everything for you. It's a fascinating expo that will show and explain the current state of the country's agriculture, from the state of the farmers to the environmental issues facing the harvests today.
Spending February 2025 in Paris may be cold, but the city has a lot of exciting events to distract you from the chilling weather. There's a day for crêpes, a Mardi Gras parade, a multitude of festivals, and of course, Valentine's Day!
