Do you know about Sugar Hill, Loganville, Carrollton, Covington, or Milton? It's fine if you don't. They're not exactly the most famous neighborhoods in
Atlanta, nor are they even its central districts. These places serve as the suburbs of the bigger metropolis, largely residential areas where families can peacefully reside near the city. If you're moving to Atlanta with your entire family, consider settling in any of these places. Not only are they much safer and more peaceful, but they have a lot to offer that's different from Atlanta's main districts.
Brookhaven
Located only 25 minutes away from
Atlanta's central neighborhoods, Brookhaven's proximity alone already makes it one of the best suburbs near the city. Though many of the districts on this list are also fairly near, Brookhaven is one of the nearest to Downtown Atlanta. Hence, it's more than suitable for any family to live near Atlanta while staying a fair distance away from the busier and more urban areas. Brookhaven is also relatively luxurious, known for its shopping destinations and stand-out places to eat.

It's a great blend of lively commercial establishments and outdoor activities that are just perfect for families
moving to Atlanta. Moreover, there are many great schools here too, ranging from high-quality public schools to prominent Georgia colleges.

Covington
Like Carrolton, Covington is technically a different city too but since it's close to Atlanta, it's widely regarded as a suburb. It stands out with its historic downtown area, which doesn't just boast a lively commercial scene, but also eye-catching old-world architecture. The place is so picturesque that various movies and TV series filmed here, including “The Dukes of Hazard,” “The Vampire Diaries,” and more. As for the rest of the town, it's a typical peaceful small town in the
American South that's way less hectic than the ever-busy Atlanta.

Milton
Milton is another popular Atlanta suburb that always pops up in conversations about the best places for families to live in Atlanta. Located in Fulton County and only 45 minutes away from Downtown Atlanta, it's known for its massive residential lots. The town's zoning restrictions require each property to be at least an acre big, which means greeneries are as abundant here as residences. Its rural-like appeal highlights the beauty and charm of living in the countryside while giving more than enough space for big families to live comfortably near Atlanta.

Peachtree City
If there's ever a city—or in this case, an Atlanta suburb—that can serve as the perfect image of the ideal American town, it'll probably be Peachtree City. This popular area is evenly divided into organized sections, referred to as “villages,” which make it easier for different types of residents to live here. Some are more suitable for young adults who want a slice of Atlanta's urban energy near downtown Peachtree City, while others are perfect for families who yearn for a more peaceful, countryside living.
