Aventino is undoubtedly one of the loveliest places to live in Rome. Perched atop the hill of the same name near the heart of the city, the neighborhood offers beautiful views, a more peaceful atmosphere, and lots of botanical bliss. The vibe here is so much more serene and almost provincial that you could easily forget that you're still in the Italian capital. As such, Aventino offers a tranquil escape from the rest of the city, which is one of the most crowded in the country. Who wouldn't want to live here?

Where is Aventino in Rome?

Aventino is a lovely and elegant neighborhood near Rome's city center. The area surrounds and is perched atop Aventine Hill, one of Rome's seven hills, but it's not that big overall. The other central neighborhoods in Rome are much bigger and they're not too far from here. Hence, when you go to the top of the hill, you get to enjoy some of the most breathtaking views of the city. You can even famously see St. Peter's Basilica's iconic dome from here. It's often because of this that it's one of the most coveted parts of the Italian capital.

Is it Safe in Aventino in Rome?

Yes, it is. While Rome's crime rates tend to be mid-range, Aventino stands out as one of the city's safest neighborhoods. It helps that it's one of the quietest parts of the city, notable for its lack of nightlife hotspots. It still has a few restaurants and wine bars that stay open late, but Aventino is still far from where many would go for a night out on the town. The neighborhood is also largely residential, with various tight-knit communities residing near and on top of the hill. The busier districts are comparatively more dangerous than Aventino.
