Next in Fashion

In the United States, you probably think of New York when it comes to fashion. The East Coast city is, after all, one of the most influential fashion capitals in the world. However, LA has its own fashion muscles to flex too. In fact, Netflix even set up a new design competition right smack in the middle of the "City of Angels." "Next in Fashion" has all the glitz and glamour of high fashion without the petty drama. Here, it's all about the craft and the competition. The contestants—established designers themselves—compete for a $200,000+ cash prize as well as international fame and brand recognition.

Flaked

Did you know that LA actually has its own mini-version of Italy's Venice? The famous Venice Beach, known as "Muscle Beac" because of the countless fitness junkies that work out on the sand, is a community filled with interesting characters. And it's this particular area that the Netflix series "Flaked" is set in. Will Arnett stars as Chip, a recovering alcoholic who moved to Venice Beach to try to start a new life. But as he does so, he discovers that's not that easy. And many of the people around him aren't making it easy for him either!

Bojack Horseman

Now, imagine the premise of "Flaked" set in Hollywood? And instead of a recovering alcoholic who tries to start a new life, you're instead faced with a horse-headed TV has-been who's trying to resurrect his career, Oh, and it's all in animation too! Still interested? Well, you'll love what has become quite a cult classic. "Bojack Horseman." In a trippy word where animal-enthused humanoids are just regular people, this adult-oriented animated series shows both the glamour and the nitty-gritty of living and working in Tinsel Town. In fact, some have admitted that the cartoon is actually one of the most accurate depictions of Hollywood yet.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Speaking of show business, what if you can actually live it in your everyday life? Wouldn't it be a blast if you can simply sing out our and perform and entire musical sequence at random times? At least, that's what "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" shows viewers. Singer-songwriter and actress Rachel Bloom created and starred in her own highly successful musical sitcom about a girl who's still hung up on her ex-boyfriend. As they say, "Love will make you do crazy things!" And in Rebecca Bunch's case, that's leaving your entire life in New York City behind to go to LA to find love and happiness.

New Girl

Speaking of love-scorned women in comedy, Zooey Deschanel was the quintessential quirky girl as Jessica Day in "New Girl." After finding out that her boyfriend has been cheating on her with another woman, she moves to Downtown LA and becomes the 'new girl"' in the lives of three single men. And when a wacky female middle school teacher moves in with three equally wacky guys—each with his own sets of problems—comedy gold ensues. Ultimately, however, the show is a nice look into the single life in Downtown LA. It shows a different side to the city that's less Hollywood glamour and more real-life urban living.

Love

Want to see how the premise of "New Girl" would look like when the roles are reversed? "Love" is your answer! Written and produced by the talented Judd Apatow, the simply-titled series follows Gus, a people-pleasing meek guy who moves into a trendy apartment near Echo Park after his girlfriend dumps him. It's here where he meets Mickey, a 'wild child' who couldn't be any farther from Gus in terms of personality and interests. And yet, the show sees them falling in love and going into a relationship despite their many opposite qualities.

Lucifer

Now, if you prefer the sparkle and shine of Los Angeles, the sie Hollywood mostly wants you to see, then "Lucifer" is your series! And what a premise it is! The devil himself escapes hell and becomes a ladies' man and man-about-town in, ironically, the "City of Angels." He opens his own nightclub, "Lux," where the name of the game is sin. However, as he indulges in his high-class lifestyle, he becomes embroiled in a murder case, eventually becoming a frequent consultant for the LAPD. It's there where he meets Chloe, a homicide detective and single mother who seemingly catches the devil's eyes (and heart).
