One of the newer films on this list, "El Hoyo," or "The Platform," is a spine-chilling thriller that gives a dystopic view of how the world might be if we don't take care of it. In a prison-like structure, people live on various levels, each depending on his/her social class. Every now and then, the titular "platform" descend into each level, providing the resident with a ration of food. However, as the platform descends upon every level, some don't get as much while others are able to selfishly horde for themselves. And when people are driven to the brink of starvation, there's no telling what they'll do!

Set in the beautiful Spanish southern coast is this crime caper of a film starring Mario Casas and Luis Tosar, two of the country's most beloved actors. The former plays the titular character, an ex-con who has left the life of crime in pursuit of a better future. However, when his brother desperately pleas with him for help, he is dragged into the underground world yet again. Now, he has to face one of the most dangerous players in the Spanish mafia, all while protecting his family. Looks like the idyllic life Toro wanted will just have to wait.
