If you've been in the City of Lights throughout December, then you'll know how magical it is at this time of year. The jovial spirit continues right through to January, making Paris the perfect place to spend New Year’s Eve. So as 2019 draws to a close and 2020 edges closer, we’ve put together a list of things for you to enjoy, from champagne cruises to dinners with a view.
Take a champagne cruise on the Seine
There’s not much we love more in Paris than taking a cruise down the Seine and soaking in all the iconic landmarks. So when it’s accompanied by champagne and fireworks it’s truly an unbeatable experience. You’ll be away from the crowds so will be able to watch the action from the comfort of the boat. Some of the cruises also have dinner and dancing so you can waltz your way into the new year.

Countdown on the Champs-Elysées
Countdowns happen all across the capital on the 31st, but the biggest one by far is on the Champs-Elysées. The road is lined with plenty of places for a New Year’s Eve tipple and you’ll see the Tour Eiffel twinkling in the background. There are fireworks at midnight and the celebrations will continue right through the night. For something more family-friendly, come here on the 1st of January for the annual parade.

Go to the Moulin Rouge
This isn’t something to do if you’re not looking to spend much money – spending New Year’s Eve at the Moulin Rouge will set you back a considerable amount but you’re sure to have a fabulous time at the world’s most famous cabaret. There’s lobster, caviar and champagne (naturally) followed by dancing and then a post-dinner show.

Party with the locals in Montmartre
One of our favourite Parisian neighbourhoods with one of the best views in Paris is a safe bet for New Year’s Eve celebrations. Away from the throngs of tourists in the city centre, you’ll be able to enjoy a more low-key vibe and feel like a real local. Explore the narrow streets and duck into one of the many cafes and wine bars. Then enjoy the view from the Sacré-Cœur of the fireworks below.

Eat dinner above the city at 58 Tour Eiffel Restaurant
If a four-course Gaelic dinner, champagne and spectacular views sounds like your idea of a good time then you’ll love spending New Year’s Eve in Paris at 58 Tour Eiffel Restaurant. It’s located on the first floor of the tower which has had a recent facelift so you can expect glamorous surroundings too. You’ll have sweeping views of the whole of the capital. A once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Play dress up at a masked ball
Party the night away with the city’s glamorous set at Chez Papillion. They’re throwing a masked ball for late night revellers and a DJ will be playing house, pop and R&B all night. It’s €50 to buy a ticket but you’ll get free champagne at midnight and a free mask. So you can disguise your tired eyes and dance till dawn.
Fill up on French cuisine
As one of the world’s culinary capitals, it’s no surprise that eating is a popular way to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Paris. Lots of restaurants and brasseries provide specific menus for the evening, some even with dress codes, so be sure to check before you go. We love Bistro Paul Bert which is a classic bistro that's been on the must-eat-in-Paris list for over 21 years. Steak and cognac butter are the order of the day here. Ok, so it might sound boring, but a relaxing night on New Year's Eve will leave you feeling fresh-faced and ready to explore on New Year's Day. You can seek out the

the circus in Paris which are usually on until mid January.
